Ultrasone HFI-650 replacement pads

Thread Starter
I know that some (GTecX) have tried the beyer velour pads for HFI-650.

Is there now a solution that:

1) Is more comfortable than the HFI-650 original pads?
2) covers the metal grill as well (DT250 foam inserts, etc)?
3) has larger diameter pads than the HFI-650 (my ears
don't fit inside HFI-650 original pads)?

If so, could somebody tell me what pads / inserts to buy?

I've grown accustomed to the HFI-650 sound, but the physical
discomfort is still a bit too much for me and I'm thinking perhaps
a pad replacement could help some.

All help appreciated.

Halcyon

Are they really that unformtable? Am I going to regret buying these instead of the DT-770s? I hope someone comes up with a good replacement option...

I don't see why you can't pick up a basic sewing kit & a pair of scissors here.

I haven't done this, but i don't see why it can't be done (I take no responsibility for phones going to **** by doing this).

Step 1: buy beyer pads
Step 2: remove ultrasone pads
Step 3: remove center section from ultrasone pads with scissors
Step 4: sew center section onto beyer pads using similar pattern as the ultrasone had
Step 5: put beyer pads on ultrasone
Step 6: listen to ultrasones with new beyer pads
Step 7: put ultrasones away after use
Step 8: go to sleep
Step 9: dream about how the ultrasones would sound and how comfortable they would be if you had only put beyer pads on them
Step 10: wake up only to realize your dream has come true

Don't get scared even if I find them unfomfortable.

Maybe it's just good that one has to take them off every two hours or so. At least it's good for the hearing.

You may find them less uncomfortable yourself.

I'm trying to go the DT250+foam inserts route myself.

My Beyer 931 pads are pre-attached to a plastic ring. The ring makes their removal on and off the cups easy.

But if you would try to remove the ring, essentially you would ruin the pads. The plastic ring makes them near impossible to attach to other non-Beyer cups. Maybe the pads are different on other models?

They just pull off. Just be careful and make sure to pull on the edge (on the vinyl part). The cloth screen is sewed to the pads (unlike Beyers where the foam screen material is secured by a plastic ring).

Ultrasone HFI 650 confort

So I got my HFI 650 from ebay without trying them on before. I just have them for less thena week, and they sound great.

But I put them on when I sit at the pc at the end of the afternoon until bed time, so maybe 3-4 hours in a row, and they are becoming disconfortable, as the pads inside diameter is small for my ears, which is spoiling the listening.

Is this workable?
