Singlepower extreme - so many for sale right now, why?

There are 3-4 of these amps for sale now on the first page of the amp section. I'm just curious if singlepower is coming out with an updated version or something. Why the unloading?

I think that it's the deal with most FOTM products, even the very good ones (like the extreme). for a while it was the "the" amp to get, so people who might otherwise go to SS sound found themselves with tube amps... as a result people are switching. It happened with the HD650, K701, W5000, K1000, MPX Slam SE, even the HE90... just part of the normal cycle of head-fi.

I think a lot of people who have purchased this unit are thinking going balanced. There has been a lot of post about this being the year of the balanced setup. This is a wagon that has left the barn it appears.

What's that saying again, "putting the cart ahead of the horse"? I think this may very well apply to this trend ...

Current FOTM is Denon D2000s, I believe.

It's not my cart, yet and no plans yet.

We'll all be able to pick up some B22s in a few months methinks.

As there have been the past two years or so.

Balancing might be the Ferrari for being expensive, but on the vast 'US' roads we are driving on, there is not much use for a fast car unless you want to get tickets all the time. While Denons are a Fad of the Day, balancing has been the Fad of the Year...

Note, how for number of headphones recommended to go balanced with (k340 for example), someone has pointed out that between a very powerful amp and the headphone running in balanced, there is not much difference, suggesting that majority of the improvement only comes from increased gain/headroom, rather than the advantage of active ground.

One of the best analogies I have ever read or heard. I concur, however I do drive a Kia Rio so who am I to talk

I wish I had more experience with balanced, but what I do know is that there are so many fine single ended amps out there its hard to completely "annihilate" what you can achieve with a good, well rounded setup, regardless of whether it is single ended or balanced operation.

Nothing wrong with the FOTM craziness. The Lord knows I've gotten the sickness many times. So what? It's what we do.

And let's not forget the pricey nature of some of this stuff. There have been a few used Singlepower's for sale here because the sellers simply needed the money.

(Translation: I spent more on my amp than I could comfortably afford)

It happens all the time...

Did not say anything was wrong with it...but thats one of the reasons I think SPs are getting rotated out of the setups of the original owners, for whatever reason. It might be old FOTM, or it might be funding for the new FOTM, or it might be funding for something non-head-fi related, who knows

there are 2 he90's for sale now... i wonder why? lol

except for an exodus from gear when a new variant comes out, i would not think much of seeing a few of the same upper tier amps in the FS forum. if only a small handful of this amp existed, i would think more of it.
