Call me Soft, but this one almost got to me - all choked up, a very respectful duet and really shows how Eva was a great vocalist. Eat your heart out, Natalie Cole!

Great songs by one of the most talented female singers of our generation.

Thanks for the link! YouTube is becoming one of the best ways around to introduce people to new music.

I took lessons from a guitar instructor who knew Eva personally and used to play with her on the rare occasion she would perform in public. She had horrible stagefright, according to him, but he could never talk about her long without getting choked up about how good she was and what a waste it was for her to die so young. Wonderful voice, and so effortless.

live at blues alley, if you don't already own it.

Yeah, would have shed a tear too, if it weren't for the Katie's fake guitar playing.

A truly unique voice was Eva Cassidy.

I kinda didn't like the pairing though. I'd rather be mesmerized by Eva's solo vocals. There's a real sad soulfulness to her music... real hard to find...

Thanks. I had never heard of her. What a wonderful way to discover an artist.

One of my favorites...

Eva must have been a simply amazing person. The stories I have read about her are sad, yet wonderful. Just weeks prior to her death, her friends held a concert to raise money for her medical expenses (she died of malignant melanoma, a skin cancer). She ended the concert by singing a cover of Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World, her fingers visibly bleeding while playing the guitar. I imagine there was not a dry eye in the house.

Thanks for the link, two of my favorite singers!
Somewhere over the rainbow from Eva always hits me hard.
