One good reason is (in fact two reasons) 1) Slicing will slow the pace and with a human wall like Nadal you know how long the match could go on. 2) Slice is for the weak.... At least it's a defensive shot when you stay at the baseline. It's not a «macho» shot....

Bump...

 

Nadal certainly made short work of Berdych today, the Czech was eliminated in straight sets, no tiebreaker. I thought he would have been able to put up a better fight. By the time I tuned in in my time zone @ 8am they were re-hashing McEnroe vs. Borg!

 

Rafa is very good at rising to the occasion, like Serena who is peaking in her career as well.

 

Oh well, last year was a good men's Wimbledon final.
