I need a hard shell case that can fit my Audio Technica A700's.

Post away.

Never heard of an after-market hard carry case for headphones.. Though W-series ATs come with one..

Maybe build yourself one? or modify one of those big CD cases that look like a briefcase (rip the sleeves out, custom-cut foam, line with felt, etc.)

I'd also like to know if there is an after-market hard case for headphones.. - to bring em with me on holiday

I would look into general-purpose protective cases: various companies make them for things like guns, cameras, sensitive equipment etc. Many come moulded for specific items, but many can be purchased without the moulded inserts. They are often from aluminum, fiberglass, plastics and so on. They can get costly though, e.g. Pelican cases.

Alternatively try and find an old-style camera case. I am sure there are some lurking around - eBay, antique shops etc.

There is also the HeadRoom Headcase - it is not hard per se but should give enough protection.

I wish senhiser made cases for the 650's as there an imposible shape to carry around and equipment bags have to be too big due to there strange proportions.

Try buying a small suitcase, filling both sides with foam and cutting the shape of your headphones out of that foam. That's the way some headphone cases are.

A line of cases called Pelican Cases fits this bill perfectly. Go to http://pelican.com/home.php

The cases come with a pluckable foam interior so that you can custom shape the padding to hold whatever you want. You could then cover that foam padding in velvet to protect the headphones from scratching. The cases are HARD, thick plastic and will protect the headphones very well. They are also lockable with your own lock.

The HD650 does come in a nice box with cut foam, though.

HeadRoom makes a bag, it's not a hard case per se but it's padded inside.

Either overuse of "per se" or appetite for extra posts.

I'll look into the camera phone bags.
