iBasso T-1, better than expected.

Thread Starter
I got the t-1, mostly because it was cheap (60 bucks on ebay) and small enough to add to my nano with little increase in footprint. Right out of the box it sounds very good. Now I am trying to decide if this is because I didn't expect much. I have pretty good accessories on my other gear (imod, ALO cables, Toma, Airhead) so I really didn't think this would add up to much. To be fair, I did spring for a very nice dock from Turbo- which I am sure helps the T-1 quite a bit. But anyway- for the size, price- and SOUND I can def. recommend this amp.

It does very well for a sub-100$ amp.

so how does it compare to the airhead? I was kicking myself a little when headroom was selling the bithead for $150.

Not having a modern AirHead and not having my old one around for a long time I can not make any comparisons. Maybe someone else will.

I feeling is that the Total Airhead being base on a modern op-amp will out preform the T1 by some margin. I don't know how the T2 would fair.

iBasso made a show of offering 5 "T2's" to some around here and I was one they made the offer to, yet it has not shown up. Maybe they are getting so many orders that it became unnecessary to provide those free ones.

I do hope they get around to it because so far the impressions have been few and far between.

I take it you were also one of those five?

Hi, I noticed you were online and seem fairly knowledgeable about head-amps. i am waiting delivery on a setup from "Practical Devices" (linked to this site in sponsor's column) After ordering I saw the IBasso T1 for about two thirds the rice. I don't know very much about this subject and have been looking for an opinion on the Practical Device amp. The site gives links to performance and is very detailed. Do you know anything about this amp? I don't really know much bout reading spec graphs. Any advice will help. Thanks a lot. (Sorry for butting in!)

I tried to do a quick post but it didn't appear. Sorry for butting in but I noticed you were online and I am looking for an opinion on the Practical Device amp compared to the T1. The PD is linked to this site in the sponsors column and it has links to test reports and graphs. I don't know much about any of this stuff and would like to get a comparison opinion . The T1 is below 100 but I can get a good deal on the XM4 because I won it on ebay. Thanks for any info from anybody! Looks like the quick reply did appear. Sorry for the double post

You being very new here should learn about the search function and how it works. It is very helpful finding information you may want. Here is a link to a fairly comprehensive thread about portable amps:

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showth...able+amplifier

Both amp families are represented in this thread.
