Polk Audio R50

I found a good deal on these speakers (well, is $69.99 each a good deal?) and I would like to know if anybody has these speakers or has had them in the past. I might be interested in getting some since my current speakers are no-name brand.

thanks

I use a pair in my office for my 5.1, in a small space because, being front ported, they can sit right against the wall. Hard to go wrong at that price.

I am a hard-core Polk Audio fan. In the price range they cater to you can't go wrong with any Polk speaker, IMO. Spend several thousand dollars and there are other brands to consider. You should be quite happy with your Polk Audio purchase, enjoy...and let me know what you think when you experience them.

Who doesn't love Fry's outpost.com!?

I bought the Polk R300's (similar speaker but two way and rear ported) in January when they were $99 for a pair. You cannot go wrong at that price. Polk speakers are reasonably well built product for the price. As far as budget-fi, sizzling treble, boomy bass floor standing speakers go, it is a pretty good deal and all of your friends will go MAN that sounds good! They'll go quite nicely with that Sansui G5500 you have. Got mine running through a Sansui AU 20000.

Mine sit in our living room and provide background music for dinner parties. They work just fine for that, plus they fit in with my decor.

Not my cup o' tea for more critical listening, but looks like you have already got that covered with your Darth's.

They don't ship to Canada? is anybody willing to order them and sell them to me?

I used to use R40s. For the price you paid, they are excellent. Just excellent.

So frys.com has the R50 again for $69.99 each. So I'm again considering getting them. Should they work well with the Sonic Impact T-amp?

meh, I just ordered them. Shipping was $15 cheaper doing two separate orders, one speaker each, than it was ordering both together. Strange.
