I am looking for recomendations for a cable 1/8" stereo phono to RCA 1 meter in length. Budget up to $150.00. I will be going from my Ipod headphone out to a MF X-CAN V3.

All files are in Apple lossless. Ultimatly going through a pair of Senn HD515.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I picked one of these up recently from a member here, skyline889, and it is a wonderful cable, terrific-sounding and beautifully made. It ought to come in well under your budget and is an excellent performer.

best,

RAL and Qables should be on your short list

With your budget I would strongly recommend you :-

a) check out Revelation Audio Labs - I have one mini-RCA from Brad and that is still my reference to-date, after trying some many brands and makes.

b) check out Qables - another find custom cable builder which is going to satisfy your most demanding needs.

Very good point, since the OP is willing to go up to $150. The cable from Blue Jean Cable are a bargain but the work Brad does and the sound his cables achieve is amazing (better than BJC). When you factor in Brad's prices then you have a fantastic buy.

Thank you for the suggestions. I looked at Revelation Audio Labs web site. It appears that Brad only uses silver which I am not a fan of.

feh1325,

I have a nice dock for the main rig at home. This is for work. I need to be able to unplug everything at the end of the day and lock it up. By using the headphone out I don't have to unplug the RCA's putting unnecessary ware and tear on the cable connectors. I have already returned one set of cables because of a grounding issue causing hum in the system.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Just get radio shack cables, and save the rest of the money on a good dinner or something. Your $ will go much farther that way.

If you only want to spend about $35 no need to look beyond BJC.

im not a big fan of super expensive cables. but why are revelation and quables charge such a premium on their cables? i understand they use top quality stuff but still...

for diyers, how much does it cost to make one of these cables mentioned by the op, say about 2-3 ft?
