SOLD: Boutique Millett Hybrid w/Diamond Buffers and Crossfeed

Up for sale is the Millett Hybrid Amplifier, complete with the Diamond Buffers and a Modified Linkwitz Crossfeed. All electrolytic positions are filled with Elna Cerafine 470uF Boutique capacitors, and all film cap positions are filled with .1uF Wima Film Caps. All resistors are Vishay-Dale RN60 resistors, and the volume potentiometer is the famous Alps 'Blue Velvet' pot. The LEDs underneath the tube sockets are red, as well as the front panel LED, blending nicely with the glow of tubey goodness . The crossfeed is the Tangent-made PCB, with the enable and level switches on the front panel.

The Power Supply is the STEPS model, with full capacitance. The power indicator LED is also red, matching the amp unit.

The Diamond buffer was made using MJE243/MJE253 transistors.

I will be including a pair of 12AE6A tubes, as well as a pair of 12FK6, which will get you started tube rolling!

The output jack is the locking Neutrik model, as well as the input. This means that I will also include a 1/4" to RCA cable, as this is not the standard for inputs.

With the crossfeed in the case, it does get a little tight. I usually run the Millett topless as to not have to worry about heat issues, but the included top cover does have tube rings if you so desire to run with the cover on.

The only issue with this amp is that two of the screws on the back panel don't screw in tight, but this does not affect the usability of the amp at all, it just means that you wouldn't want to use it as a portable

Asking price is $275 shipped, Paypal preferred.

Also forgot to mention, I'm including a 1/4" to 1/8" cable, in case you desire to hook up an iPod as source. Both the cables I'm including use Canare F-series plugs, covered by TechFlex over Canare Star-Quad.

I'm curious:

What is on the back panel of the amp? You haven't posted a pic, and I'm having a hard time figuring it out from the views you did post.

Nice amp, BTW.

So sorry, I forgot about that On the back panel there is a 1/4" Locking Neutrik Jack as mentioned above, a power socket to go to the STEPS, and a SPDT switch for the power.

Haha, thanks for the comment! Just to clarify, the input jack is a 1/4" jack, but I am including a 1/4" to RCA and a 1/4" to 1/8" inch cable, so you'll be able to connect a regular stereo component plus an iPod or other portable source.

What sorts of heat issues? Otherwise I'm very interested.

Well, its fine running closed, but the bias on the diamond buffer needs to be monitored. As the transistors heat up, the voltage increases, which creates more heat... as you can see, its something to watch. It can be managed, but I like to run without the top on just for my own peace of mind.

The heat is very typical with all millets, its not normally an issue, but running it with an open top might be a good idea.

Bump. I'm a 1000+ member now! You now can have confidence in me

Just take a look at those beautiful red Cerafine caps! I just love the way they look! Those, the Wima film caps, the heaters of the tubes, all blend together very nicely with the red LEDs under the tubes and the front panel!
