Did you just go the the Hifi500 website order stello DA100 regular and then they email you and ask if you want to get the sig instead for 200 more? Or did you call someone? the sig isn't on the stello website yet so....

If you go to hifi500.com, a pop-up window shows up advertising the DA100 Signature. The temptation is like a carrot on a stick! I want to buy it and it's right there! Ack! How do I stop myself??

@PFKMan23: I emailed Christine and she sent me a PayPal invoice.

@Asr: Woah, I've never seen that popup since I have them blocked. Interesting that they have that up but not a regular page and order form.

Since the ``regular'' DA100 is $695+$85 shipping = $780, the DA100 Signature at $895 (with free shipping) is really a deal (just a bit more than $100 more)! Am I missing something?

I also have pop up blocking enabled so I didn't get that notice at all. I wonder if they are just clearing out stock at this point (of the older products) and then once that happens a page will come up.

Sorry, I must have overlooked it somehow, where did you order it from, hifi500 or some other place?
Thanks

This is my first post at Head-fi as I am not a big head gear guy...yet
I have been using a Lavry DA-10 DAC for about a year and a half, sold it and recently picked up a Stello DA100 Signature (last Friday). Its still burning in but I can tell you that this is a step up from the Lavry. The soundstage is higher and deeper. The highs are more extended and the lows are punchier and go down lower. There is also way more detail in the whole soundscape, while retaining the same musicality as the Lavry. Beyond that the Lavry is $75 dollars more than the Stello.

These are just some of my initial impressions versus the Lavry, since I dont have the original DA100 to compare to. I have about 60 hours on the unit and expect more to come.

I received my DA100S today. Initial impressions are quite favorable. Compared to my Macbook Pro's headphone out, the quality of the bass is much improved, sound is very crisp and clear, and detail and resolution is improved. It also sounds warmer, with a bit of emphasis (or simply improvement) on the low end which really helps my MS2i's. High end also sounds very clear.

Here's one thing I just found out. The upsample button is now three-way. There is off, green light, and red light. I assume these are higher sampling rates (96 kHz and 192 kHz ???). I can't really hear a difference between them, but I definitely need to spend more time with this baby

Edit: Indeed the specs say "ASRC : Bypass, 96kHz, 192kHz; Digital input receiver : up to 96KHz"

Oh there is one annoyance. DA100S -> unbalanced -> Gilmore Lite -> MS2i obtains a reasonable to loud volume at just 5% (1 notch) of the GLite's volume knob. Using DT770s moves it to about 10% (2 notches) of the knob. This makes it rather hard to adjust volume. I accidently bumped it a little and it got very loud and hurt my ears for a second.

The output signal level has changed from voltage 1.2 Vrms (DA100) to 2.4 Vrms (DA100S). Why would they do that?

So the only upgrade for the S version is the balanced outputs? If so, I am about to order the standard version. Any reason why I shouldn't?
Im tempted to go balance with the Sig, but cant justify coz the old horse (DA100-nonSIG) still perform at its peak performance.

just received mine today, and playing with it: real PNP! and nice sounding yet! plugged on a vista notebook and a mac-mini and no trouble. Music management takes a new way in my life today! But I really hate itunes!
