For those of you who have very high end headphones. - Page 2

I own, or have owned, just about every high end headphone that interested me except the Stax SR-Omega and 4070. Those interest me, just not enough to pay for them I'm waiting for a new generation of high-end headphones, but not holding my breath.

Note: Denon D5000 is very, very good, although it's not at the top tier. More on this another time.

AKG K1000, because I need a second pair. I am hoping that 2 pairs will be enough to get me through the rest of my life.

A pair of HP-1000, so I can have the best of both Grado worlds (John vs Joe, already have PS-1).

The Omega 2's for some wonderful electrostatic love.

I own the GS-1000, HP-2, K-1000.

I wasn't as happy about the R10 as others. I did like the HE-90 from a technical standpoint but like dynamic sound rather than stats - same with O2, great, but has that stat sound. Haven't heard the L3000.

I would like to have the fun factor of the PS-1, but it is too close to the HP-2 which I prefer overall, and is more expensive.

I'm happy and really don't think I'll upgrade headphones, just equimpment.

i would like:
qualia 010
ue-10
denon d5000

the d5000 is more of a test to see if they are as sweeeet as everyone says.
the qualia, i know it is. my want!
ue-10, should be good, i guess i wont know unless i get them made.

i did not like the ps-1 or the orpheus when i heard them. the ps1 had better extension than the hp1000, but less detail in the bass. i think the orpheus would be too hard to live with. to an extent the headphone saying "this is whats on the recording" is cool, but not always. the L3000 seems like a cool headphone, but im not totally sure i could do it. i have only ever heard them driven by an earmax amp.

The only one I would want would be the AKG K1000. I'd like to spend some time with them. Otherwise I'm happy with the Sennheiser Dynamic headphones & the top of the line Grado.

I own R10s and K1000s. I have heard and like (a lot) HE90s, PS1s, HP2s, L3000s, but I don't feel any desire to own them. I'm genuinely curious about the TakeT H2, based mostly on Duggeh and Milkpowder's mini-meet ramblings, and the Edition 9 (I had and sold the 2500s due to my dislike of the mids and highs, but I liked enough about them enough to hope that the 9s correct what I perceived to be an unnatural and metallic sounding upper mid and treble range). I've never listened to any Stax, which is odd, but something has to be left to the future. I picked the UE10 pros because I am in the market for a great IEM, and so far, I haven't heard anything negative about them, except for the price.

Own:

K1000s and D5000.

I've heard pretty much everything else. As good as the e-stats are, I feel they don't have enough impact for me. L3000s sound very nice, but not airy enough for me. I feel that the R10s are grossly overpriced, and the Qualias, as good they sound, are too expensive and too fragile. UE-10s are out too because I don't like the physical feeling of having something in my ear. GS-1000s are good, but I wouldn't put them on the same level as the top-tier headphones.

The only thing that I feel compelled to have are the HP2s, because people whose ears I trust like them a lot. So I guess that's where I'm going next.

those damn Omegas and i'd be done...

SR-Omega, SR-4070 and the HE60 but I'm going to buy almost every electrostatic headphone ever made so I have to have them.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if anything..the 9's exaggerate those two aspects even more so than the 2500's. looking at the list of cans you like...i think you'd very much enjoy the stax line, as well as the ue10pros should you decide to go that route

I have a pair of L3000's. They are amazing. They pretty much bested all the top end phones at the meet this year in San Jose, except for the R10 and the Orpheus. Im not too interested in owning an orpheus, too fragile and expensive. So that leaves the R10 left. I sure would love to own one of them. So light and airy, like the phone isnt even trying. I think an R10 would be a great addition the L3000. So if I were to get another phone it would have to be the King.

Well, maybe it's good news...to my wallet at least. I think Sovkiler is still trying to make it to the Florida meet in a few weeks and I'll have the chance to hear them myself. UE10 pros though.....hmmmmm.

Well, I can't vote, but I have RS-1s and K701s.

The Ks are going so I can put money into future rig upgrades tailored for the Grados. I preferred the RS-1's sound just slightly more than the HP-2's (heard briefly); although typical of the Grado line, I could point out the HP's techincal superiority over the RS-1 immediately. I caved to colouration.

What gets me, is this headphone is spurring on upgradeitis for an unexpected headphone: The RS-1. Mint, brown band. Drool.

oh wow, i actually have a pair of 'high end phones'. what a surprise there. (i have the UE-10).

i recently just got the RS-1 and i'm slowly adapting to the grado sound. so based on that, i would want to try out the PS-1 and HP-1000.

anyone who's heard the PS-1s and/or the HP-1000s knows that properly amped, these two headphones blow the RS-1 out of the water

IMO of course
