Alright, so it has been pointed out to me that I really should start culling the herd...and I'm broke (due to paying for school), so that's probably a good idea. The first up is a stock XP6.
The unit runs on 2AA batteries (alkaline and rechargeable NiCD and NiMH all work fine for me) as opposed to some proprietary battery, which is something I really like about it. Mechanically, it seems to be in good condition. I can't foresee (or warranty against) what people will do with these things, but it does a good job for me on my CDs and CD-Rs, some of which are pretty beat up. It feels nice and solid, and is compact for a vintage unit. It's about 5 inches square and 1 inch thick. Body is made of metal and feels nice and solid.
Pictures are below. Overall cosmetics I'd say are very good. I've seen a lot of units on eBay and elsewhere described as "mint" or "excellent" that are in what I would not consider to be in such condition, or even "good", so I'm not sure what the real standard is. In person, I think it looks pretty darn snappy.
Sound quality is very high; I'd rank it top-tier as far as portables go, and I've used (and owned) quite a few. It is a matter of taste, though, I suppose. It's detailed and textured, with wide soundstage and nice dynamics. I like it very much with my K701.
