Thanks for doing the announcement, scrypt. I also felt that this was the best Head-Fi news from the show.

And since the headphone jack isn't disabled, am I correct to assume that the new "iMod cable" is a LOD?

I'm not sure if this has been nailed down in the prior 4 pages of largely extraneous banter, but the ALO iMod cable is in fact a line out dock that has the caps built inside the dock itself. The dock did not look larger than a normal one, although I think it was on the thick side. It looks as solid and as sturdy as any fine ALO product.
The version I held in my very own hands on Saturday at the show had male RCA connectors on the end of a braided pair of cables. Mini connectors will be available as well. When I order mine, I do not intend to buy separate iMod docks but I will ask Ken to make an adapter from the mini that will get used more often to RCAs for home use. Seems more affordable and practical that way.
The 5G iMod at the show was inside a custom (?) iTank metal case, so the dock allowed for that capability. Vinnie also had a prototype custom iTank for the 4G iMod. That thing was BIG and clearly lethal, such that nobody with that model would ever be unarmed if an iPod-jacker were to attempt a theft.
I think it is fabulous that the headphone output can be used because on this trip last week my amp batteries died on the plane and I would have been stuck if not for the headphone jack on the iPod. Having that backup or just that smaller more portable option is a great benefit.
