anyone?

i use O2 smartphone, and it wouldn't drive the HD650 well.

Well... Is that surprising?

I think it's unfair to comment on the audio quality of the cell phone without using some sort of external amplification like a headphone amplifier, considering that very few portable devices are capable of properly driving HD-650s.

I use an LGVX8300 as my MP3 source when I need portability. It also plays .3GP formatted movies.

3GP equals OMG bad quality sound, AMR for the loss.

I use my i-Mate (cell+ppc w/4gb SD card) when it's not appropriate to take my main portable rig. I use a decent quality rip on it and they sound pretty good through the stock earphones. I don't expect superior quality, but in noisy places, it does fine. It's certainly better than the elevator music in the grocery store!

HTC Excalibur (aka the T-Mobile Dash)

Windows Mobile 6
Windows Media Player Mobile
Corsair 2 gig MicroSD
192 - 320 kbps mp3 files

doesn't sound bad for a super portable setup, I normally just carry the phone and stuff my marshmellows in my front pocket in case I need to rock out on the fly . It gets almost 10 hours of battery life if your constantly listening to music from a full charge.

true, but its good enough for me. I can't seriously see using a 1.75" screen for serious movie watching anyways. Good enough for Futurama, married with children and Seinfeld episodes on the bus.

I use a Sony Ericsson 810i as a media player sometimes, usually when I'm expecting some phone calls as the vibrating ringer doesn't catch my attention 100% of the time. Generally it's coupled with a MiniBox D and Shure E2c's.
