$2,995 I believe, with a limited introductory offer of $2,495.

Price and whether there will be a DAC option as well!!!

I think I'll give myself a few years to save up for one of these beasts once I settle down and stop going back and forth from uni.

Does this blow away the headroom balanced ones then?

p.s. anyone have a list of the best balanced amps on here? I tried search, but came up empty for a good summary list. Only ones I know of are the meier-audio, headroom, headamp and now the apache.

Then after my future forray into home setups and some trade-ins, it's time for electrostatics!! YAY. I'm on the head-fi bandwagon! woot woot.

edit: what rlanger said

the fact that the op-amps are roll-able is icing on the already wonderful cake

Can anybody who has seen it make an estimate on size, please? Is it full width like a standard CD/DVD player?
Ray, if you're reading this, it's mostly the width I need to know about, so your input would be useful.

And the Rudistor who for a European is good news (no custom duties).

In order to get a definitive answer to a question being asked in the big meet impressions thread, how many total Apache units are you offering at the introductory price and how many have already been spoken for?
If I remember correctly, it should be just like the B-52. First 10 are at the introductory price of $2495 and everything after is $2995.

Tempted by the 'balanced' side then? Go on buy it and let me have a listen.

Not particularly bothered by balanced, but I want a SS amp with pre-amp capabilities and input selection and this fits the bill. Expensively.
I'm also rather enamoured with Ray's products, I like the sound of the Raptor/Hornet/Tomahawk, so I'd be fairly safe buying this blind.

Looking at other balanced systems this seems to be quite a deal at $3000.
Does that include the power supply?

Have to admit - throw in a DAC option for $500 RAY and you'll completely undercut headroom and their max system.

Doesn't look like there's much space in there for a DAC stage though

Just out of interest, what interconnects is Ray using in the second picture that Nebby posted? They've got fancy "network boxes" built in. I wonder if they're Transparent Cables? (doesn't look like it because the RCA terminations don't look like the ones on Transparent's website)

Looks like a pair of MIT cables.

Looks like I will be able to listen to an Apache next week. Very much looking forward to it - I am SUPER interested in this amp

Yeah, looking at the innards does suggest there is no room for a quality dac.
It's incredible what headroom and meier fit into an amp though, so you never know!!! But then again, headroom doesn't offer the choice of balanced+unbalanced all from one device either.

Still, can you imagine a three stack system - PSU+DAC+apache - woooo

Although in all honesty it shouldn't really matter as I have a MD-10 DAC on the way which apparently sounds amazing, so we'll see if I need a DAC at all.
Gotta say when I do move somewhere more permanently the first thing I will do is get a proper headphone listening rig with a nice comfy chair, everything fixed and neat with a nice balanced rig where i can just sit back and listen for hours.

So... apache = solid state version of B-52?
AFAIK, Ray has never made a DAC, so I doubt there will be one. He'd be more likely to include a good phono stage
