To correct myself slightly, it is the output DEVICES in the Apache that are discrete (bipolar transistors).

Only the input/gain is op-amp. You can op-amp roll your choice of the chip in the Apache. The Apache's FOUR buffers
are discrete. Look closely in that picture, you will see those output buffers with star heat sink around them.
