Yuin PK3 Appreciation Thread - Page 7

Just got mine today (should have had them last week but I had them shipped to the wrong address) and I'm definitely happy. I've just started listening to them but like everyone else is saying, they sound great, and I like the fit as well. Besides the sound, the cord isn't so long that it'll get caught on things, and the packaging is simple but elegant, with a little canister to keep them in. I don't know that I need the 1/4"-1/8" adapter, but it doesn't hurt to have another.

I have another pair of PK3 unused, I'll tell you if there's a difference after 100 hours but I must say they sound great out of the box though.

Does anyone know how I can make a perfect donut pad or where to buy some?

I'd like to know this, as well. From what I've been informed thus far, the mylarones and the super.fi 3s that I use share similar sound signatures, with the latter that I own handling mid-high separation better, at the cost of bass.

This feels eerily like the pk2, and my only gripe is that I cannot hear the individual bass notes as well as with the Koss KSC75s. It's something that cannot be helped at this price range, though; so I'm thinking of getting some pk3s to replace my cowon stock buds, as I still use them the most out of all of my rig due to ease of use and portability.

Still, if the PK2 responds well to equalized bass-addition, I might jump on it, because clarity is still the most important thing to me.

i heard some at a head-fi meet last week, and ordered a pair straight away, should be getting this week sometime, cant wait!

Did anyone else who ordered this NOT get a confirmation email or anything? I haven't but I'm assuming he's sent it out and I should get it this week.

Fang told me he was expected a large delivery this weekend, so I'm sure all those who ordered PK3s (including me) will be getting theirs soon.

Could not resist

PK3s are freaking awesome. I got them to last me though the wait for my sf5's RMA and they don't disappoint! They sound fantastic just straight out of my 1st gen shuffle. IMO they require some burn in t get rid of the infra-sound and tighten up the bass slightly.

omg

just got my yuin's and they are amaznig, not the best isolation, but they sound fantastic, i am so impressed that a $40earbud can sound as good, or maybe even better, than my E2C's, or even UM1's!

I'm waiting for mine too.
How long does shipping from Head-Direct take to Scandinavia?

EDIT: 4 days. Not bad!

But they do seem to be pretty durable. The only problem I've found so far is that they shed the foam pads pretty quickly.
I put a dab of rubber cement on a toothpick and carefully ran it around the edge under the pads.

I have shoved these things in my pocket and carried them nearly everywhere with me for the last four months and the pads are still firmly in place.

I got my second pair of PK3s yesterday via the recent Head-Fi Group buy. I had the first pair very briefly when a friend tried them out (before I even had a chance to listen to them) and immediately wanted them for his iPod. Sold.

Anyway, I had forgotten the amazing sound these inexpensive little ear buds can produce. I A/B'd them with the PK1s, and the PK3s really hold their own (using my Penguin amp). Just a tremendous ear bud, and to think they cost $25 via the discount. Amazing. I can even live with the short j-cord.

Anyone who loves a bargain should own the PK3s, if they can stand wearing ear buds (not a problem for me).

So now you have your px100 and pk3 , how about a comparo?

I just got some JVC air cushions and am really liking them, they are the first IEM's that seem to fit and don't fall out all the time. I nearly ordered the pk3's but in the end pulled out because I did not feel like wasting more money on something I may not like. ....

Comparing the PX-100 and the PK3? While the PX-100 sound is outstanding, I just am more of a person who finds the ear bud form factor more to my liking (just don't like headbands and cups pressing on my ears). SQ-wise, they are not too far apart, but I think the PK3s have a little more detail. If I had to choose, I'd choose the PK3s. Just my POV. But again, the Senns are a great value if you can get them deeply discounted.
