Yuin PK3 Appreciation Thread - Page 15

Gotta say, I'm actually listening to lyrics on these, not just the music as a 'general idea' .. like on my old buds. I've found this happens with ear/headphones that does mids very very well/honestly. Great for the price.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I might want to buy the Yuin PK3.. couple of questions:

1. I understood that the cable is J cord, but I've heard that they have changed it to Y cord. Is it true? I really dislike J cords..

2. I listen to Hip Hop & Rap music(bassy) and I wanted to know if the pk3's bass would satisfy me.

3. Do they worth 59$? Including shipping..

4. The last question: Do Head-Direct send world wide? I live in Israel.

stolen PK3s while shipping

Hello!

I don't want to blame head-direct! This is just an advice for you who plan to buy some PK3s.
I live in Germany and ordered a pair some days ago. I received an empty envelope saying that the "package was damaged" from the german delivery service. The shipping wasn't trackable or insured.
After that, Fang (the head-direct guy) told me that there were some issues about stolen headphones and that I should use insurance for my next order. He kindly gave me 50% refund.

Hi!

Fang just offered me insured shipping in an email so maybe you could send him a mail and ask how to order.

I don't remember if you ordered insured shipping. Could you please send me a message about your name and address?

Ordered mine on Thursday and here today. Pretty impressive shipping time!

Initial impression was neutral. Bass too forward and treble pitchy. After about an hour I stopped noticing the ear buds and just began enjoying the music. Any one know how long these take to burn in?

Show great potential, especially for the price. Just before removing them the drums, lyrics and cymbals were so clear. Decent soundstage. Like others have said better than expected for the price. Quite pleased

Let them burn in 40-50 hours, and try them with the Tomahawk, for sure.

Hello!

That's right, I didn't have enough money to order some PK3s again. I'm sorry if I put it wrong, I didn't want to be offensive. I just wanted to say that you were really helpful in my case and that the people here should consider asking you about insured shipping.
This should be the best method to avoid problems with stolen headphones, shouldn't it?

Thanks tstarn06. Chose to do burn in while listening to them.

Have to laugh. Had to send the TH in for minor repair so I'm temporarily ampless. Started with the 225s tonight and worked through everything I own to listen to a little Rush tonight. Finally pulled out the PK3s. Ahh, success at last. They may not be fully burned in but for tonight they were the only pair worth listening to. They're starting to grow on me

Add another WOW to the thread. Right now I would rate them pretty even with my unmodded KSC-75s.

Dear Jonas,

Thanks for your kind advice. We have stopped using USPS priority mail to non-US YUIN customer. Most of non-US YUIN customers will have EMS express shipping from March 2008. Hope that will help avoiding headphones stolen.

Best,
Fang

Picked up a set in the for sale forums for $30. Listening to "Farewell To Kings" as I type this. They are quite airy with a decent sounstage, have it eq'd for boosted bass and am shocked at the level and tightness of drums and bass guitar. For what they look like I am very happy with these. Now i'm curious as to the PK2 and PK1 sound....can anyone compare any other Yuin's to these?

Got the PK3's last week and they are a huge step up from the pod phones. They sounded a little bright on the top end at first, so I ran them into my home receiver and played them all week while I was at work. Listened to them extensively this weekend and the top end is much smoother now, and the bass has come around to produce a nice flat response from top to bottom.

I can't compare them to IEM's since i've never used them, but I think I will buy the Yuin IEM's when they ship just for those times when I want more isolation (ie: airplanes).

Good Job Yuin.... very nice for the money.

Looking at a few replacements for the standard buds to be included with the Clix 2...Curious about a little feedback/opinions on them.

Hi!

Do you know if there is a chance to get PK3s with an L-plug (nice for portable use)?

P.S. I'm interested in a comparison to E2Cs and super.fi 3s, too.
