I don't have the PK3, but the PK2 and X3.

When I don't need isolation I always use the PK2, the sound is on par with MalarOne X3's, but the comfort difference of earbuds over IEM's is huge IMO.

The PK3 I dunno

1) Are Yuin PK3 buds are bigger than the stock Zune buds?
2) Also, s it safe to assume the PK3 and PK2/1 buds are the same size?

Anyhoo... Happy Halloween!
1) About the same size
2) They all share the same housing

I had the X3s and sold them. I just felt they were losing their initial luster, and grew concerned over build quality. I believe the PK3s are a great value, with fantastic sound. But the X3s are better in terms of sound isolation. However, I agree that the PK3 comfort-level makes them a better choice if iso is not needed.

Thanks guys. I think I'll try going for PK2s first, since I'm reading that they give me the quality of an unamped PK1. Plus their used prices is about the price of a new set of PK3s.

I don't use my portables as much as I do my home rig(DT990/SR225s) but I'd like to have both isolated earphones and regular ones depending on where I go or what I'm doing.

If you don't want to use an amp, the PK3s are a better value, and some prefer the 3 sound sig to the 2s. I know I do. I also had PK2s, but sold them. I basically always use an amp anymore, even with PK3s. Just a fuller, more robust sound signature that I am hooked one.. But I don't mind carrying an amp around. Either way, you won't be disappointed. But the PK2s are not exactly the same as an unamped PK1.

PK1 IMO. I was very impressed by its 'soundstaging.'

how do these sound compared to shure E2c?

WOW.

yeah, that's probably the hundredth or so "Wow" on this thread. These earbuds are amazing, and provide a sound that is exactly what a tighter-tuned KSC75 would be, albeit with less soundstage. However, so far I feel that the earbuds provide some staging especially in percussions; while not anywhere in the hi-fi range, there's a unique sort of "separation" that I feel when listening to anything with a lot of drumming.

It's already been said over and over about soundstage, but the PK2 trumps the PK3, and the PK1 over both. I'm curious about the PK2, now that I've had a taste, but that'll be another two months of saving so that my savings don't fail.

I don't know much about the E2C having not heard them, but hear that they lack life and are a bit thin-sounding. Their only advantage, I imagine, would be isolation; even then, other IEMs of similar price have outperformed them time and time again.

Compared to my Ultimate Ears SF3, they aren't as lean or offer the same musical separation, but offer a more lush mid-range with some full bass. However, with a pair of foamies, the SF3s outpace them overall; you can listen to them in any environment and still extract all the lovely details, but not with any non-closed cans.

However the fact is that earbuds are the most portable and fast-fitting form of any phone (unless your ears are weird), and that's why the PK3s are getting used a lot in favor of any other model that I own. It's pretty much grab-and-go, as opposed to having to take some IEMs out every other half-hour to hear someone talk, or not get run-over by an oncoming vehicle.

The PK1 is much better. However, you are really comparing two entirely different classes of phones. If you need isolation, the Shures win, but in everything else (including cost), the PK1 comes out ahead.

ah heh, sorry if I was a bit unclear. I meant compared to PK3. I know they arent in the same price range.

My fault. My previous reply was about the PK1, and I didn't notice that I was actually in the PK3 thread.

I still think the PK3 is better SQ-wise. Really, the entire line of Yuin earbuds is quite a revelation. If you don't need the isolation, I'd go with the PK3.
