No Grado?

Thread Starter
How come there wasn't any Grado exhibit at HeadFest? Surely John could afford some two-way tickets to San Jose for himself and two or three helpers. I can imagine some animosity between head-fi and Grado with all the "Grado QC"-bashing and the "Late Friday Afternoon Specials" that people are watching on TV these days, but what's the real reason? Is it that they simply aren't launching anything new, have no desire to increase their workload, and the distance is too great? I can always assume those are the reasons but I'm wondering what the party line currently is. Am I the only one who finds it weird they aren't there? I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a thread about it already (unless I'm not searching hard enough).

I notice that too when i read the "Vendors Exhibiting at
HeadFest 2007" list. So sad ...

Hmm, that's very odd indeed. Alexandro also wasn't there. I mean, c'mon, Altec Lansing was there for heaven's sake. What happened?

They're on the list (look to your right).

I discussed this with immtbikr and in his oppinion... thats just Johns nature. John Grado is somewhat reserved and trys to keep to himself. Supposedly even for last years NY meet, he only stopped by to announce the streetstyle door prize winners and show off the GS1k.

After roaming this year's meet with my camera, and not so absorbed with gear auditions it became VERY apparent who the outgoing personalities are (Tyll/Ray/Billy for example) and which of us are more reserved and quiet (Justin/Asr). Its just different personalities I suppose.

Well, there was pretty much a full lineup of Grados in TTVJ's room.

I found it funny that there were so many headphones in that room, Todd had quite a few headphones tangled up in a plastic tub container.

Haha, at the time i was thinking that todd's headphone storage was treason.

TheMarchingMule - I didn't realize you were at the meet, I don't think I saw you, I would have liked to meet you.

@Dept_of_Alchemy - I know they were on the list, but I didn't see them at the meet, where were they stationed?

John's got a serious aversion to trade shows. I remember him at a Stereophile show about 6 years ago and he just wasn't liking it at all. So, I wouldn't take it as a snub (I sure he appreciates this community, he just doesn't do shows anymore.

But isn't that the beauty of head-fest? It's primarily an uber-meet and only secondarily a venue for members-of-the-trade. I can understand Alessandro not being there as they view the pro-music segment as their primary market.

This was discussed in the Vendor thread. Lots mroe information about it there.

The closest Alessandro got to Head-fi was lugging a stack 'o MS-2s to Philly for a head-fi group buy. I think there's a pic of that somewhere!

Suffice to say, no need for that kinda thing anymore - the secret's out, plus technically Alessandro cans are for the pro/musician market...*edit out wink here*

edit- found the thread!
