It is being worked on this weekend I believe, plus there is supposed to be site hosting the videos soon.

Just by way of an update, we are a little behind on releasing Steve's talk because we have to do some editing before it can go onto the web. Plus, we have two tapes of the entire thing from different parts of the room, so we are trying to compare those and use the best material (possibly some from each).

In any event, it will be available soon and Steve tells me it will be the first talk of his available on the internet! We want to do it justice, especially given the attention it will get outside of Head-Fi, as well as inside.

Howdy Al,

Are we going to have this as "exclusive content" available only to members of Head-Fi (and thus encouraging new users) or will we brand it and share it outside of our wonderful headphone world? I think because of it's nature we might want to brand it and share it. I'm also wondering how our current bandwidth might be affected by this if it is hosted by Head-Fi. I think the demand for it could be pretty good.

Cool. I've heard that we have new servers here, but I would think our best effort to bring people in shouldn't cause slower responses for our regular users.

If the video will be downloadable, I'm thinking we could connect users through Head Fi to make sure they know the content is ours, but redirect them to an outside source (host the file elsewhere).

I think what would be cooler, though, would be to have a simple embedded movie player within Head Fi that played the file. This would allow the user to see the video, allow Head Fi to maintain it as the owner, and let these potential members see the names of our vendors while they are here (even if they just read it in the right hand column like I am seeing now).

Might take just a small bit of coding, but would be a nice tradeoff for sharing our bandwidth.

EDIT: I'm certainly not thinking of some kind of advertising slam if people watch the video, just display the page the same way it is being displayed now.

It should be downloadable too as an xvid or divx avi. That would be sweet! I could watch it on my dvd player

I recorded and made the video last year. It wasn't official or planned or anything. We just went on the fly.

It was available in two different resolutions and formats. MPEG4 and WMV. It was distributed via torrent. I'm not sure if anybody is still seeding. If we have an official place to upload, I can reupload them again.
