A good gaming Mic to use with my HD-595s?

I need a microphone for use with my Senn HD-595s. It will be used mostly for gaming, but also for chat / voice-overs etc... Two models that I am considering are Zalman's ZM-MIC1 and Audio Technica's ATR-35S. I would prefer a lapel Mic, and it would be great if it could allow me to use it for VOIP while I an using my speakers (I'm not sure if this is possible or not; I guess it doesn't matter too much either way). My budget is below $50.00, but the lower the better as long as it is of decent quality. Thanks for your input

I'm looking to do the same thing and I found the Zalman ZM-MIC 1. It's Omnidirectional, so it may pick up unwanted noises, but for the price, it's worth a shot.

After more research, I've decided to not use the Zalman, because it picks up too much background noise. I'm going with the Logictech USB Mic, because of its quality and cord length will allow me to position it near my seat.

The Logitech does seem to be a good deal, but I was hoping for a clip-on mic. Either way, please tell me how you like it when you get it.

I picked it up yesterday and tested it out. It's a nice clear mic. However, I had to talk straight on within inches for people to hear me. I had the gain turned up to the max. I'm going to do more research to try to find other settings in the OS or teamspeak that may help. If not, a mod of older equipment might be in order.

Correction: it works great! I had to increase the volume in the Voice tab of the Sounds and Audio Device Properties window. Control panel - Sounds and Audio devices - Voice - Voice Recording - Volume.

How directional is it? Will it pick up audio from speakers behind it, or can it filter that out while still receiving your voice (ie. how well would this work as a gaming mic using speakers)? Thanks for the valuable feedback!

I own it and would not recommend it

I will try it with speakers and ask my friends how it sounds. No problem; I'm glad to help.

Thanks Ras - I was skeptical of the fact that the Zalman was omni directional. I'm happy that I went with the logitech.

If anyone would like to hear how bad it sounds feel free to shoot me a pm with your vent/teamspeak info.

Besides these two mics, is there anything else worth looking at? I like what I've heard about the Logitech, but I would like to see some other options before i pull the trigger.

MT - I haven't tested the Logitech with speakers yet, but I'll let you know once I have.

I'd recommend PLANTRONICS

edit: I am still waiting for something small non wand stand up mic that is somewhat good. I gave the ZALMAN a chance but it failed like the Lakers except I never gave them a chance GO SUNS!

I'm back to using Sennheiser PC150's around my neck, it does a great job.
