Anyone heard Heed CanAmp with AKG K701's?

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone out there owns both the Heed CanAmp and the AKG K701's, or has heard both of them together?
If so, how well does the Heed CanAmp drive the AKG K701's?
What are the sonics and soundstage like?
Are they a good match together?
Thanks for your help.

You should really spend some time on this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=194441

The separation and staging of the CanAmp is extraordinary; and its a perfect match for K701's wide soundstage. This setup is so far the best setup i ever heard on my K701 (compared to: LD2+, a bunch of portable amps, Zhaolu discreet headamp module)

I tried to finish that thread, aka "War And Peace: The Headphone Thread", but then I had to do things like eat, sleep, you know. The usual.

The Heed CanAmp and the K701 are made for each other. Fantastic detailed and open sound with a huge soundstage.

Yep, ditto for the consensus of opinion with my personal experience...Canamp / k701s FTW

How is the the bass response, bass power, and bass extension on the AKG K701's using the Heed CanAmp?
Does the Heed have plenty of headroom and drive for the power hungry AKG's, especially in the bass?
Thanks again!

Well these are the issues with the k701s , i.e. power hungry and bass response most folks recognise as being problematic, and which is why the HEED is such a wonderful synergistic match. I find the Heeds seemingly infiniate power and slightly biased bass response a most perfect fit together and that I prefer the analougue biased sound camp is another plus here...

(EDIT Here: The Mapletree with a GE 5751 in V1 further extends the 701s bass response deeper, with yet greater texture and further promenance; As well as extention at the top end with greater airyness ....Both amps replacing my HeadFive for these very reasons although at greater cost, of course)

Again, "at its price point' it is a very nice package which has been able to take full advantage of my recent DAC upgrade.

Let me tell you there IS no lack of textured and articulated lower frequencys in the Heed/k701 match, its very tight and focused, this is the presentation I'm experiencing. That is the potential lurking beneath the surface with this combo. as always dependent upon our sources feeding them, IME...

Dang it!
Now I wished I would have kept my 701's, instead of selling them!
I ordered a Heed CanAmp, and it is supposed to be here in a couple of weeks.
As much as I would hate to, [for financial reasons, and L-O-N-G break-in], I may have to order me another pair of the 701's in the near future and try them with the HEED.
I just dread doing another 300 hour break-in all over again!
Yeah, my biggest gripe with my 701's was the lack of vitually any bass power, amp clipping, and slight deadness of the sound.
Decisions, decisions!

recabled 701s (like Moonaudio Blackdragon) with the Heed take headphone listening to another level (for me). Much warmer and fuller bass, better clarity without any metallic
shrillness. Really a perfect combo.

Wow, looks like it just keeps getting better and better for you K701\Heed combo guys!!!

What cans are you using now, daltonlanny? 300 hr break-ins are nothing, just let the suckers run 24 hours for 13 days!

Hi Morph201,
I currently own Sennheiser HD580/600/650, as well as a pair of Beyerdynamic DT880's which are currently breaking in.

How do you like those HD650s??? I assume they're stock?

Yes, the 650's are stock, with the exception of a Cardas upgrade cable.
I love the sound of these, but I feel that they will sound better with the Heed CanAmp that I am waiting for to come in.
The only thing I don't like about the 650's at the current time is a slight bass heaviness, and a slightly rolled off top-end.
Otherwise, they are exceptional.
The only thing that I liked better about the 701's that I sold was the fact that they sounded better to me on female vocals, and sounded more spacious than the 650's, IMHO, of course.
I am just dying to know what the 701's would sound like with the Heed.
