POST impressions of your door prizes!! - Page 2

Really impressed with my new Crossroads Acoustics portable system, well mostly impressed with the Mylar Threes.

Mylar Three: I feel these IEMs just do a lot of things right, mounds of detail, decent amount of bass, and decent midrange though i would prefer a bit more sparkle on the high end and a bit more tightness on the bass (remedied with the correct amp). Overall, a nice, balanced IEM and had i listened to them at the meet and not received this wonderful prize, I'd strongly suggest purchasing a pair. At the price they're a true bargain!

Mylar Two: Haven't done much listening to the Mylar Two, a little put off by the amount of bass, which seems a bit unrefined and gives a warm signature. I usually prefer a cleaner sound, but I can see a lot of people enjoying these.

Almost forgot to mention, I use the IEMs with V-moda tips, the ones included are quite crappy and are very hard to get a good seal. The seal makes all the difference afterall.

CR-2: The amp, which I opened up seems fairly simple and I think some mods are in order. I'll guess that the circuit is similar to something like a Govibe. Overall, not a bad amp, but I feel the bass could be tighter and highs could be extended. Most likely, I'll take out the input caps and replace the opamp with a socket so I can opamp roll, which will then be more to my liking. When hooked up to my ipod and mylar3s, my portable system has never sounded so good! A nice upgrade from my Sharp MD-33s + ipod combo.

Ipod Dock: I've been wanting something like this for a while and forgot all about the Sik Dins, but now I need not worry about purchasing one. The Headfest 2007 on the back is a nice touch.

P.S. Please forgive my noobish review, I don't usually post impressions or reviews.

No need for apologies, that was nicely done! Glad you are enjoying the new rig. BTW, somebody said the amp is a basic CMOY but I have no idea.

Thanks to everyone else who has posted some prize impressions. These prizes were really quite incredible and the vendors should see how much they are appreciated by the lucky winners!

Yeah the little crossroads setup is a very good sounding budget setup. I like the looks / feel of the mylar2, but prefer the sonics of the mylar3. IMHO both cans sound better with sony MDR-EX series sillicone tips.

The amp is a good sounding OPA2227 based cmoy. Could easily be modded by someone with enough DIY knowledge. I think the gain is around ~7, so IMHO its a fairly high gain circuit. But not so high that it can not be used with Grados or low impedance IEMs.

I want to thank Josh and Stefanee from Ultrasone for the iCans and t-shirts I won. I like them very much. The iCans are perfect for me. I couldn't stay until the drawing saturday but I convinced my wife to go back with me on sunday. I had a feeling (more like hope) that I had won something and sure enough as soon as I walked in the door Voltron told me I had one something. We toured the rooms again and several of the vendors told me I had won something on saturday. Later Voltron tracked me down with my prize. I immediately went to Stefanee to thank her for the fine gift. Becky says thanks too to Al and V-moda for her gift.

But I should give them some burn in time before I compare them to my HD-600's.
you shouldn't even open em considering there basically a collectors item only ones in the US right now. since you already have HD600 I don't see the point

Currently (wait: make that finally) burning in the Shure SE310s. Initial listening today is quite positive, but I want them to have a few more hours on them before they go head to head(fest) with the E4Cs.

More soon!
