Really impressed with my new Crossroads Acoustics portable system, well mostly impressed with the Mylar Threes.
Mylar Three: I feel these IEMs just do a lot of things right, mounds of detail, decent amount of bass, and decent midrange though i would prefer a bit more sparkle on the high end and a bit more tightness on the bass (remedied with the correct amp). Overall, a nice, balanced IEM and had i listened to them at the meet and not received this wonderful prize, I'd strongly suggest purchasing a pair. At the price they're a true bargain!
Mylar Two: Haven't done much listening to the Mylar Two, a little put off by the amount of bass, which seems a bit unrefined and gives a warm signature. I usually prefer a cleaner sound, but I can see a lot of people enjoying these.
Almost forgot to mention, I use the IEMs with V-moda tips, the ones included are quite crappy and are very hard to get a good seal. The seal makes all the difference afterall.
CR-2: The amp, which I opened up seems fairly simple and I think some mods are in order. I'll guess that the circuit is similar to something like a Govibe. Overall, not a bad amp, but I feel the bass could be tighter and highs could be extended. Most likely, I'll take out the input caps and replace the opamp with a socket so I can opamp roll, which will then be more to my liking. When hooked up to my ipod and mylar3s, my portable system has never sounded so good! A nice upgrade from my Sharp MD-33s + ipod combo.
Ipod Dock: I've been wanting something like this for a while and forgot all about the Sik Dins, but now I need not worry about purchasing one. The Headfest 2007 on the back is a nice touch.
P.S. Please forgive my noobish review, I don't usually post impressions or reviews.
