Make sure the volume control on the remote is turned up all the way as I beleive it may have not been since we used that unit for the lecture/demo on sunday and we had no preamp and had to use the oppos internal volume control...

I am not into dacs as you may be able to tell..but I was actually looking for a nice source for my second setup in my sig..think i may of found it!

(@kramer5150: forgive me, but I mod-ed your thread title from 'raffle prize' to 'door prize.' There was no raffle this year because it was learned last year that raffles have uncomfortable tax consequences for the Meet. I didn't want the taxman reading your post and getting the wrong idea.)

Listening impressions: my Squeezebox's analog outs are plenty good - don't let anyone tell you different - but the DA10 brings completely new meaning to the term "lossless." Fantastic detail and subtlety, revealing things I never knew were there in the music and just sounding excellent overall.

So far I have heard it only through the headphone jack, which is adequately powered but considerably less enjoyable-sounding than my home amp. But depending on headphone, it can still sound more than good enough to be usable, and the volume up/down switch is so fast and responsive that I didn't miss having a volume knob nearly as much as I thought I would.

I have XLR-RCA adaptors coming, probably before the weekend, and once the DA10 is connected into my home rig I should have lots more impressions to post.

Apparently I won the Westone 3 (I had to leave early on Sat, so wasn't there). They'll be a fantastic upgrade to my Shure 3c IEMs. It'll be interesting to see how they stack up to my Hd 650 + Blockhead set up. At a minimum, they'll be way more portable. And now I might have to buy a Tomahawk to drive them...

I've contacted Westone and will be sure to post impressions once I've got them.

Cheers Crazy_D. I found that out pretty early when I maxed out my STAX 006t amp volume. I thought to myself 'wow that is a low output player'. Now, I just put my Amp at about 75% and then use the Oppo for volume control. Now I am remote baby....

I won the Sennheiser HD-555 Headphones in Aqua Blue that were made for their Anniversary. Supposedly I have the only pair in the US. I have not been home since the meet so they are still safely packed away in my suitcase. I hope to give them a listen this weekend. But I should give them some burn in time before I compare them to my HD-600's.

Uhm... Well... While I was busy having a beer with Wes Phillips, supposedly they called my name for some Sennheiser ear buds. I already have like 3 pairs of them, so... oh, well! Hope they find a good home.

!!!!!! Want to trade for stock 555s

Be forewarned, in my experience with the 555's, they really need burn-in; I've never heard a headphone change so drastically. Straight out of the box they were some of the most dull, boring headphones I've ever heard. After burn-in they sounded quite nice, not world-beaters, but definitely good value (and what beats free eh?). Just don't be disappointed by the very first impression. I want pics of this ultra-rare color!

Well I have finally gotten home from the meet. I will take a couple of pictures but I doubt that they will do the color justice. Listening to them right out of the box they sound pretty good. I am going to let the player go for a bit and listen again after I make some headway on the long list of things I need to catch up on.

A great big thank you to the Woo Audio folks for my new amp.

Little did I know when I registered and attended the recent Head fest in San Jose, that I would be the happy owner of one of my favorite amps at the meet, the Woo Audio 3. I spent some time at the meet listening to the Woo Audio 6 and thought it was really really good for my AKG 701's I had brought to the meet. A little out of my budget, I also looked at the Woo Audio 3 amp and thought that with a little judicious tube rolling, that amp might be both in my budget and perfect for the 701 cans I have grown to love.

To my surprise and ultimate joy, I actually WON one of the Woo Audio 3 amps. I am listening to it as I type this now, and wow. All I can say is Woo Hoo! I have to give this amp my respect. After a few days of enjoyable burning in time, the tubes it ships with are delivering very smooth, silky music without a complaint from me. Soundstage is wide, overall sound signature is nicely paired with the AKG 701s and I am a very happy and lucky guy. If you weren't able to preview the Woo Audio amps, do yourself a favor and get with someone who has one and check it out. I have been reading about all the tube options there are for this amp, and really think that I am going to have fun exploring just how far I can push this amp. For now, I am just enjoying the amp stock. To tell you the truth, I have been sitting here for hours and am not even aware that I am listening to headphones at all. It feels like I am right there in the venue, with really good front row seats.

Again, Thank you to the Woo Audio people. They were very nice and their equipment is top notch.

Now, I have some music that is calling me. I picked up Songbird by Eva Cassidy and this amp makes her sit right next to me, so sorry, I gotta go. Eva is calling...
