Anyone else dissapointed with Meizu m6 SQ ?

Hi all,

I've been using and enjoying my meizu m6 for about half a year now , But I just can't forget the great SQ my rio carbon had. It was more neutral but not boring ... The meizu seems so overblown and veiled in comparison, it sounds a bit unmusical.

Anyone else here dissapointed?

I had a Carbon and it was fine, don't recall it knocking my socks off or anything. You coud be having problems with synergy between phones and the M6 player.

I really enjoy miniplayer quite a bit. SQ is bass-potent and clear. The 10-band EQ is terrific for pinpointing and pulling out sibilance often produced by using soft flex tips, or bumping the similar frequency range of my treble-shy E5s. Sorry you're not getting full enjoyment. Have you tried FLAC files?

I've tried FLac, a bit better , Might indeed be a mismatch between my phones .... I'm getting some Crossroads mylarthree's very soon, they should be similar sounding to the super fi 5 pro's. Hope it's a good match!

Thanks for your answer.

I am very pleased with the combination of my UM1s and M6. Very nice soundstage and bass response.

Are you sure that all the sound effects are off (spatializer, etc.)? There are quite a lot to turn off in the menu. And double-check that EQ is set to user-defined with all the levels at 0. I only mention because at the default settings I thought the sound was fun but a bit "overblown" as well, but since I turned all that stuff off -- I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it seems much more neutral to me now.

Excellent point! When you buy an M6, or update firmware, the default settings are flagrantly overblown. Don't know why the company thinks +8 is an appropriate default for 'Bass Boost', but my brains are still reverberating from those first listens.

You actually have to go through each 'Sound effect' and turn all off or to the "zero" value to listen to the player at a neutral setting. The SQ is quite good then. Wierdness from Meizu...may be a cultural thing, I dunno.

I've been exceptionally pleased with my M6 SQ. Definitely back the presets down, esp. the bass boost. With decent IEM's you won't want BB much past 2 or 3.

BB past 2 or 3? I'd like to go to -2 if I could. Custom EQ is fine.

Have you guys tried the Phase Corrected Equilizer? I find it to be very good with the e500's.

The M6 is awesome! The sound is robust and it really mates well with bass-deficient IEMs.
