Heh, well I had only had eyes for the single-ended version due to the price, if I end up buying this unit.

Sorry, maybe someone else will get their hands on the XL!

The Square Wave is a rather interesting. I'm interested in finding out what the general consensus regarding this amplifier settles down to over the next few months. I'm rather surprised by the clear front and back panel design that Singlepower has been using (as well as the open top on the Mini). Do you have photos of the power supply?

Mikhail was mentioning that the clear panels were the same stuff that bulletproof glass is made of... some kind of lexan?

It looks interesting. Waiting for the review.

Oh and use your old CDP because you know its sound signature and you've used it for your earlier reviews. This way it's easier to compare this new amp with the other amps.

I have an Arcam CD 192-T which is in between the two you own in price. The more you pay for Arcam CDPs, the more detail you get, but not necessarily more music. My Arcam dealer says their models sound better with SS than tubes. Better than what? Try both and pick the one you enjoy the best - nothing wrong with that.

This looks rather small - as in portable. But for the power supply. If it is the same as that which comes with the new tube mini set from SP, then I wonder what Mikhail was thinking when he made these nearly portable models with a big power supply and a tiny amp section. If i can't take the whole thing on the bus, then the amp might just as well be as big as the "old" SP units.

plenty of people have made threads like these when they have review samples. i think it's fine as long as the person isn't being compensated; and asr isn't all "BEST THING SINCE SLICED TRANSISTORS" so it's all good.

looking forward to your review.

My brief impression of the Square Wave is that its very solid statey. It sounds fantastic with the HD650s imo, but could be too much on a headphone that isnt warm and dark like the K701 or RS-1.

I'd love to see some digital inputs. As for the clear front and back panels, I'm still trying to decide if I like that look. Just something about it doesn't appeal as a well done solid faceplate. To each his own I guess. Still, glad to see more options for headphone users coming into the pipeline.

I've a big fan of see through electronics and this one is no exception. Beautiful looking amp.

Not to put the amp down or anything, but I personally think the amp loses a bit of Singlepower's usual elegance with the see through panels. It's cool to see the electronics inside, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have the class of most of their other amps.
