To the "beer before liquor" vs "liquor before beer", I guess it's just bull, but I did realize the idea behind it.
Drinking 40% shots gets you buzzed in a while so if you start with shots, it kicks in half an hour later and by the time you feel it, you'll be all good and not drinking much more.
Drinking beers will get you buzzed as you drink because nobody kicks back beers quicker than the effects so having beers first, getting buzzed and then deciding "I'm not too bad, let's take shots" will get you over the edge long before the last of the shots kicks in.
Guess that works for me maybe that logic only makes sense to me and my friends, but who knows, everybody's got their methods of knowing their personal limits.
Absinthe sold here in the US isn't real Absinthe as it doesn't contain the herb wormwood which is said to give off a hallucinogenic effect. Thujone which is the acitve ingredient found in wormwood is banned by the FDA for use in food. It isn't illegal to own and consume real Absinthe (containing wormwood) for personal use in the US but it is illegal to sell it. If you plan on buying real Absinthe, there are a few websites that do sell them and are willing to ship it to the US. Check your local state liquor laws regarding the importation of alchol before attempting to purchase real Absinthe as it can be confiscated by customs .
