Grado Donuts - Standard vs Jumbo

Thread Starter
has anyone replaced their standard ear pads, like the ones on the sr-80 through 325i's with the jumbo pads that are standard on the 1000's? If so what was your experience, comfort, sound..etc?

I got my SR-60s with comfies.
I quarter-modded them. Sounded better.
I ordered the yellow 414 pads. Sounded better.
I quarted-modded and then reversed them. Sounded even better. I've read this is close to the sound of the flats.

Supposedly it goes

Comfies < Bowls ≈ Yellow 414s < Flats

Of course this changes per person and by model.

we call the standard ones bowls and the jumbo ones bagels

bagels on any grado besides gs1000 are supposed to suck because of the distance between the driver and your ear

I don't know, I think I remember at least one person giving a positive review of the bagels on an RS-1, but I can't find the thread.

hmm i wonder how they would sound on my RS2s.
anyone know how they sound with other wooden grados?

I read somewhere that the bagels are supposed to improve soundstage, but i wouldn't take the risk without a few good recommendations first ...

I got a set of flats from ttvj, for my SR225's. Nice! Improved base response, kept the highs, and they are much more comfortable.

bagels are pricier than standard bowls i think. I heard people say the bagels greatly improve the soundstage but at the price of good ol' traditional grado sounds.

I was curious about that too... but I am 100% satisfied with my bowls so I don't think I'll bother.
