Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Can I bring my mini-DV camera to the meet and film?

thanks,
Garrett

**************************EDIT******************** **

Thought I would consolidate all the videos to the original post. This would alleviate members from having to scrub through the discussions.

Friday night, after a lot of travel and gear set-up the fellas were just unwinding and fooling around....

Indeed! We have been looking for volunteers to film the meet, so check in with Clarke68 and/or stevesurf about how you might help while filming. See you tomorrow Garrett!

Check the Volunteer's Thread

Garrett,

Awesome of you to volunteer. My little MiniDV camcorder is not
worthy of such an event .

Awesome of you both to volunteer. You should coordinate so we can make sure to get all four lectures & the panel discussion. If you have any other ideas of vendors or members you'd like to "feature" I'm all ears.

I'm about to head down to the hotel...I'll see you guys tomorrow!

well... mines not worthy either... and I'm SURE some fi-er have MUCH better cams than I.

But I at least want to give it a shot.

Note though I can only attend for half the day Sunday.

Some footage would be better than nothing.

Another option is to rent a good camera locally. That's what I would've done if I had gone instead of lugging one from far away.

Please, please, please. The thousands of non attending headfiers need lots of video

x2!

I'd love to be able to watch the seminars, member-of-trade discussions, general show-floor footage, etc...

PHWEW!!!

I'm flat out exhausted. My wife said I was out like a light last night, and snorring like a fog-horn all night. I was all over the place with my camera.

In all I have ~3 hours of video footage. I got most of the heavy hitters on tape... Mikhail, Tyll, the Sennheiser fellas, Shure, Ultrasone, Feng of head-Direct, Ray... I can't remember them all.

Hats off to Utep10 for setting up his tripod rig to film the lectures while I cruised the floor.

I'm wiped out... can't think of anything else to type.

Gonna go crash on the couch and listen to the Warriors / Mavs game, my rig is a sony portable AM radio => Crossroads Mylar2 IEMs. Dallas is up by 1 on the 3rd... 52-51.

Garrett,

I'm so glad you were able to get alot of footage from the floor.

I've captured all the amp builder's panel discussion and the first part of Steve Hoffman's lecture into my computer. Will finish capturing the rest of Steve's lecture tonight hopefully.
Does anyone have any ideas of what format/resolution/etc. should be used for encoding for the masses? Where can we post or host the videos? I was going to use the consumer friendly Pinnacle Studio 9 to encode it. I was going to look at last years video but it doesn't seem to be available.

Cool... I missed the amp panel. Looking forward to it.

I was looking at some of the footage this morning, I don't think I actually have 3 hours of useble footage... but certainly enough to capture the mood of the meet and the personalities of the members.

I'm bummed I couldn't get Jahn, Leaav (neilpeart), bozebuttons, or wakeride on film.... (or everyone for that matter). I think they were camping out mainly in the high-end rooms and we just didn't cross paths.

There are just so many personalities on this forum. At the end of the day thats what its all about... the PEOPLE behind the gear. You look out over the racks of gear and piles of equipment and see the smiles on peoples faces, the interaction and information exchange between members. As the camera-man, I was kind of caught on the outside looking in and was able to see a different perspective than I normally would, had I been there uber-analyzing the gear.
