Oh it is not just the VS. Here in Holland it seems to be a hype these days in killing your own children, or gf or mother in law or so on and than yourself.

I once had an aunt whom I very loved and she killed herself. Tried multiple times in her life through very horrific ways and finally she succeeded.
She left behind a child of 3 who is now living with my parents (he is 12 now) and a he is a happy kid. (he doesn't know yet what happended exactly). Happier than he definately would have been when he had my aunt as mother. She had borderline.
She did try to get help her whole life but just didn't get the help she really needed. I am glad for her she stepped out of her constant pain and ended her life. She'll get back in the end and will have to pick up her life where she ended it and than may be able to get over it. ( I believe in reicarnation)

Man, my heart goes out to Vatech, this is just terrible.

Also, the tuba player who was shot, I'm glad he's alright, being a tub player myself, I can gladly reassure you that us tuba player's are invincible! We never go down without a fight!

Extremely sad. My heart goes out to all affected parties, the victims, their families, and anyone associated with such a wonderful, world class university whose reputation will be unfairly tarnished as a result of something completely beyond Va Tech's control.

this is a horrible thing... i hope the shooter gets what is coming to him in hell

and since we were asked to leave out the gun debate i'll just say this

it's the person not the tool... humans will always find a way to kill each other

That is true. Though "tools" will let it get out of hand easier and take it a level further.

I certainly hope the surviving students can return to as normal a life as possible shortly. I feel for the parents and family of the dead students, I just can not see being in the position of answering the door to a police officer to inform me that my son/brother/sister/daughter/wife/husband/etc was killed.

I further hope that there is no record of the "killer" looking for help and it was not provided because of some loophole in his medical plan. Don't laugh crazier things have happened.

If he was competent enough to get into a good college, and manage a relationship I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that some form of counseling might have prevented this.

And how exactly would the authorities do this?

Institutionalization is slowly being phased out in this country, and most studies are showing that managed care through community care is much more beneficial. Most of these people aren't a threat to society.

I think most of what you're saying is just out of anger, not rational.

yeah but do you honestly believe video games is a great enough cause to ban them. Im sure they have some of an effect, but not enough to prosecute the makers of them and to ban them.. its pretty much just hte sick ****ed up mind of whoever did the killing's fault
