So I just received the Minibox-d, and wow! I never thought the difference would be so noticable!
I've tried it with my ipod 3rd gen driving a pair of Koss portapro headphones off the headphone out. This is my first headphone amp, and I bought it to be able to drive a set of DT770 (which I've not yet received) properly. I just hooked them up to my portapro's to check if the damn thing worked. Evidentally not expecting much... But damn! Is it just the ipod/minibox-d/portapro combo, or would any amp have made the same impact?
Buying this amp was really an impulse buy. I've kinda been regretting it since pushing the button. Now I can't wait to see what the next upgrade will do! If every upgrade does the same as this I'll be in head-fi nirvana before I know it!
I can't believe some of the threads saying that the amp didn't do any difference! What is the deal with that? To me the difference is rally tangible. A clearer, more prominent vocal, tighter bass and bigger stage are the first things to come to mind.
Remember, I have no experience whatsoever when it comes to head-fi. Some of this can certainly be contributed to the psychological factor. But still I'm surprised of how much better my setup sounds already! Can't wait for the next step!
