Volunteer Sign-Up Thread

Y'know, there's more to putting together a Head-Fi meet than leaving a bunch of posts on the forum...there's a lot of hard work ahead!

Of course, the more people we have to help, the easier it is for everyone. Great if all you Bay Area folks want to show the rest of world what a great party we can throw, but the opportunties here are open to all.

We need three crews:

Friday Night Set-Up
The main ballroom is ours after 6pm. The hotel will set up all the tables, but we've got a lot of power strips and extension cords to plug in and fasten down with gaffer's tape. 10 guys and we'll have this done quick.

Saturday & Sunday Registration Crew
We expect a good amount of people will be arriving in the morning on Saturday and even Sunday as well. We've got a couple people already to work the table in the mornings, but we're looking for more so the lines will move quickly. Shift are just 1 hour long...I don't want anybody stuck doing registration all day.

Saturday
9:45 - 10:45 - Utep10
10:45 - 11:45 - wakeride74
11:45 - 12:45 - MASantos
12:45 - 1:45 - RYCeT

Sunday
9:45 - 10:45 - MontanaJustin
10:45 - 11:45 - Asr
11:45 - 12:45 - Calaf


Sunday Evening Clean-Up
The meet is over at 4pm, at which time the vendors & members with tables will start packing up. The hotel will take care of heavy cleaning (vacuuming, etc.), we just need some people who can wind up extension cords, pick up trash, etc. Extra kudos for anyone who wants to take on "Lost & Found" duties!

Video Reporter
We need people (or a person) with reasonable video skills to cover the panel discussion and lectures for our webcast. Any general meet reporting you want to do in addition would be great!

If you can help, please leave a post in this thread, including which list you'd like your name on. Feel free to sign up for more than one! I can't guarantee anything in return other than the gratitude & respect of your fellow head-fiers, however we are looking into a few freebies we may be able to offer the volunteers.

Registration - Saturday Morning

If you don't already have me listed, you can put me down for one or more shifts on Saturday morning for the Registration.

Saturday morning registration is already looking good, although I might start doubling up on those time slots just to make everything run smoother. Thanks again!

Exactly what is involved with 'Lost & Found?' It sounds like a complicated job.

I volunteer for friday night setup. I will also be around doing other stuff throughout the weekend.

Member Dotted Bee (my niece) will be working the registration table both days from 9:45 to the afternoon, with some breaks.

Here is the LINK for signing up as a contributing member (level 1 thru 4)--there is something odd about the official-looking one that Jude really needs to clean up.

It can be...depends on how much stuff is lost (and subsequently found). Basically, its taking all the "found" stuff home, posting a thread letting everyone know, and arranging for pick up.

50/50 chance I'll be available for Friday night set up. And clean up.. will really depend on how I'm feeling Friday I'm afraid :/

Sunday cleanup is probably more like 70/30.

granodemostasa, I have not put the big Contributing Member link(s) back up in the new template design, because I'm trying to keep as much attention in the new header as focused on the International Head-Fi Meet as possible--sorry if it caused you any confusion.

And thanks for volunteering, man. With that, you guys can sign me up for Friday night (I may not get in until about 20:00 or 21:00), and for Sunday night clean-up.

Sign me up for Friday night! In Fact, if at all possible, in addition to helping out of course, I would like to completely setup my rig on Friday. It takes a good while to get it all gelling and I'd rather not waste that time on Saturday. I'd also prefer to run it all night long so the cables can 'settle' in...

... yeah I know, I am a freak =)
