That's great to hear. I've been looking for a closed headphone with similar or better sound quality to the HD650, but the Edition 9 and the L3000 have failed. And no closed headphone under $1000 ever even came close in sound quality. And now there may be a competitor that is cheaper than the HD650 itself. Hope more people get these headphones and share their impressions, because they have certainly been added to the short list.

I am confused about that as well. Denon site states that composite metal was used. They must have meant the metal half of the cup not the back cover. As if it's an aluminum then very weird and unusual, plus it is warm on touch, definitely not metal.

Wow, and my prayers were answered!
Another pink noise night and the bass *significantly* tightened up, approaching HD650 quantity with probably a bit more impact because of cans closed nature.
Now it's exactly how I like it, just the right amount, not overpowering mids or hiding details. That's like sound picture focus was adjusted to bring details out. No, they didn't become DT880 in this regard but virtually closed the gap between themselves and HD650.
I guess I am falling in love with these babies.

Ha, I know you didn't care much for the Prolines, but I'd be interested in comparisons between the two.

Thanks for testing the waters first for the rest of us.

-edit- since the day before, have the drivers gained any speed?
