Splitting a single digital input?

I am thinking about trying out an Oppo dvd player for SACD's (toslink and spdif), but I am already using the digital in on my DAC (spdif) for my computer. I would like to use both with the same DAC and I don't want to have to flip cables if I don't have to. I know I could use RCA cables on the dvd player, but I gather the digital out is a lot better than it's analog. The m audio co2 is the best solution I could find. Is this the thing I need or is there a cheaper/ better solution?

I tried to research this, but there is either very little info, or my keywords aren't right.

Thanks for any advice.

Unfortunately, you can't digitally output SACD with the Oppo (or any budget player). Even if you could, you'd need a DSD decoder on the other end. A regular DAC won't work.

yeah he is right, as far as i know sacd do not work with digital, this is why its a hifi format, to prevent copying. the other problem is the formatting on sacd is different so i dont think a normal dac can read it, its not 24/96 you know, so definitely some kind of converting would require.

if you want to keep multichannel for your sacd, make sure your dvd player have something like a 6 channels rca analog output.

but for any other purposes, yeah, a single digital cable can be for multichannel instead of 6 analog cables so its can be very convenience.

I use a Hosa ODS-330 to select either my PC or Teac CD transport to feed my DAC and it works well and is bit perfect. It won't help you output SACD data digitally, however, for reasons mentioned above,

Happy Listening!

Appreciate the responses- I wasn't aware of that. I guess that simplifies things.
