When will people notice there is a "music" forum on head-fi? - Page 4

When I need info on cooking I got to cooking sites, when I need info on photography (tech) I go to sites like dpreview, fredmiranda etc. When I need photography inspiration I go to sites like flickr. When I need info on headphones I go here.

I go to sites where there are people dedicated to the subject in question, not saying that there isn't knowing people at other sites (or here) but thats the way I think at least. I get my music inspiration from sites and magazines that do articles and reviews of the kind of music I'm interested in. There's a LOT of music info on the net...

Another thing I like is the fact that you're able to get to know the music taste of the reviewer, making their recommendations more worthwile than the odd comment on a forum like this.

Maybe the music forum here would be a good place to get a good start in music I don't know much about though.

Ooh... and one thing I really like is my local, somewhat niched, record shop, where I can just drop in and chat for a while and get recommendations that most often are spot on since they know my music preferences and I know theirs. Add to that that they've got fairly competetive prices. I don't mind spending a dollar or two more to a good local store that cares about their customers instead of buying on the internet.

i dont visit the music forums because i dont need anyone to tell me what music is good and whats not. If i wanted peoples opinions id ask(which i have) and leave it at that. I dont feel the need to speak out to the masses about a great find either since most ppl around here seem not like what i listen to the most, TOP 40 and 'club bangers'. Nothing like a simple catchy beat pulsing through your skull to pass the time away.

There's got to be some music that means more than "passing time away" to you? I like to listen to pop music too, but I also love listening to music that makes me pay attention. You don't like anything like that (even inside the top 40)? I've found that most of the stuff I've discovered through the Head-fi music forum falls into the latter category.

sure there is, jazz at night is great for me. However if we were gonna split it up on entertainment vs art, id say 80% of music is pure entertainment for me.

Ditto, I mostly listen because it entertains me and is fun and enjoyable. I leave the high art aspects to people who give a crap about such things.

Duggeh, Interesting room treatment you have on the floor next to your left speaker.
