$550 for the Japanese import only, right? Amazon and Crutchfield are selling it as well, but at MSRP ($700).

They were in one of the back rooms near the Singlepower room. Nice HP!

Why do they "strongly" recommend DHL though? I paid exactly $547 shipped EMS from the cube.

Yeah, niknik... A.W. traded up for the D5000s...

Dunno, what to do myself, with regards to which to choose, so I'll be awaiting Skylabs comparo...

O.T. ; I crack up every time I see your avatar, lol

...He traded somebody a D2000 for a pair of D5000s?

EDIT:
In his feedback, it looks like he traded for a pair of W5000s, not D5000s. That makes even less sense. No warning. Not to mention, trading a $250 headphone for an $800 (though, overpriced) headphone?

Oops... I may have spoken to soon... Maybe Andrew did go w5000 then... And totally jump ship and price class, skipping the D5000s which i somewhat assumed he jumped to...

At this point aren't the D-2000s like 315 shipped out of Japan anyway.... But yeah, the $800 price point is in another big nut $$$ league...

Just received my PJ ship notice. It went out on Monday so it should be here soon.

<----Begins to hold breath.

Guilty as charged.
And absolutely not because I didn't like them, I posted in D2000 thread they were so much HD650 alike with my slight preference toward Senns better details presentation. Instead of having two phones with virtually identical signature I decide to try something different.
And I am just blown away by W5000 details, holographic soundstage and I LOVE their bass, not the quantity which is not overwhelming (just the right amount) but quality.
How do they compare to D2000? They are very different and you need to try both to decide which one is for you. I am starting realizing that I probably need both, and have plans to get another pair and send them to Larry or go straight with D5000, depends on Skylab's testing results. But I have a feeling that both, D2000 and D5000, would benefit from silver cable to better outline midrange details and make bass tighter and probably less prominent, which makes purchase of D5000 with better but still copper stock cable kind of pointless.
If I am right and cable fixes that it's a done deal for me.

And how would you guys compare it to the HD650s (and perhaps the HD650 with one of the aftermarket cables)? Good contrast? What differences do you hear?

hey guys.. been lurking in this thread for a bit now and it pushed me to buy a pair of d5000.. they've just been delivered and i'm listening to them now.. i was really surprised to get them so soon, price japan is really quick! 2 days to london!

anyways some initial impressions - the bass is great, way better than my k701's.. its great to have a can with amazing bass and the detail of the k701's..

i'll post more impressions later, definitely a great buy..

been listening for half an hour now.. these headphones are great! really different to the k701s.. they're definitely a fun phone, very warm.. but with the same details.. the highs are a bit harsh, however as others have posted they should reduce with break in..

oh yeah.. they're really comfortable, skylab's right.. haha..
