Futuresonics Atrio M5 - Page 40

Usually neighbors will be nice and hand you your package if you knock on their door.

Should be no more than a couple of steps. Saves a bit of time.

Problem is my apartments are lettered, not numbered. There's no telling which apt they might drop it off at. Hopefully the UPS guy will just leave it at my leasing office. But there's always a chance he won't.

I wouldn't consider this a knock against FS' customer service. Sounds like an honest mistake to me.

Like I said, the customer service was fantastic up till the point they shipped them out. Hell, I might have even put the wrong apt on the sheet that I sent with the phones. How I could mistake a 2 with a Q I have no idea, but anything is possible. I would still buy from them again as they make a good product.

Edit: Got an email from FS this morning stating they have notified UPS about the address change. Easily the fastest I've ever got a reply from any company regarding, well, anything. Two thumbs up for FS.

In cursive the number 2 and the capital Q are very similar.

Hi!
Hope this has not been answered in the 30 previous pages, but is the only difference between the Atrio M5 and M8 being the color, one black and the other blue?

Yes ......... Apart from the difference in colour , there is no difference whatsoever.

Future Sonics

OK, OK, I give up ...

... I've ordered the M5's. Like I really needed another pair of 'phones. But a combination of factors -- the word of mouth about the sound, the price, their supposed lack of hiss, the "fun" factor, and my basic weakness as a music-loving human being -- led me once again down the road to Head-Fi perdition. Much of the blame (or credit, depending on how you look at it) goes to warrior05, Packgrog, MetalManCPA, OakIris, joelongwood and tstarn06, and all the others who have contributed to this epic thread. And thanks to mho, in London, for the picture of them being worn.

They look like they'll be pretty big compared to the ER6i's -- my "travel" Etys with the short Complys fit inside my ears so well that about all anyone can see is a thin wire running out of each ear. But if the sound is bigger and more fun, I'm game. It will be interesting to see which 'phones I use for airplanes ...

The odd-looking M5's would no doubt draw some laughs from the unfortunate and uninformed many who stick with iBuds or pay for Bose noise-cancelling 'phones. (I know a guy and his sister, both in their 20's, who once mockingly said to a friend, "Sennheiser?! I've never even heard of Sennheiser!" If they want to use Bose QC's for listening around the house, that's their business.) But I'm not 14 years old, and I'm in it for the listening enjoyment.

Looking forward to a package from Road-Dog!

They're bigger than the ER6, but the M5 don't stick out of the ears like other bigger IEMs (like the Super.Fi 5, for example).
If they're inserted correctly then they certainly won't stick out at all.

one of the things that put me off the super.fi 5´s,
walking around with 2 penises stucking out of your ears,

Is it just me, or do other people find that the great thing about the Atrios sound signature is that it makes music seem 'live' ? I'm sure there are plenty of people who do not like their music to be 'coloured ' in this way , but as I spend a fair bit of time actually watching live music I just find that they give me the sound that suits me best. I'm curious .............do other M5 users feel that they give a 'live' feel to music , or am I just imagining things here perhaps ?
You are correct, subfocus. And that sound signature is very much intentional, as their products are generally meant to replace stage monitors.

One thing I find particularly amusing is that these are the only earphones I have ever heard that make bootleg live recordings sound GOOD. They make it sound like you're actually there, rather than listening to something muffled and distant. Awesome.

Has anyone tried the shure carrying case with the M5? I'm wondering if it would work, and if so, whether the E2/E3 one would work (the one with the cable winder thingy), or whether the E4 case would be better (the one without the winder)?

I want a good way to store these things before stuffing them into my bag; I really don't want to break them!
