Oh my goodness! It's starting already. Our good friends at Stereophile are aware of the rapid growth and youth this activity promises to bring to the world of high-end audio enthusiasm. See their news brief commenting on the meet here.

Not about the meet, per se, but still a loverly think piece, Srajan Eban of 6 Moons has this to say.

For those who haven't allready seen them, here are some of the reports from last year:

Soundstage, Stereophile, Tone Magazine (Page 25 of PDF), 6 Moons, Positive Feedback.

Less than 2 weeks to go!

Tyll,

That's really cool! Enjoy the Music.com will be there to report as well Great seeing you and the many Head-fi'ers in Boston. Look forward to the next Boston meetup as the one i attended really rocked (see report here).

PS: If the parking lot is large enough and the weather is good i'll bring my new 4-wheel track toy

Dang, that's a great write-up, thanks for pointing that out, Tyll!

We're doing a BBQ lunch on Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm. We are finalizing the arrangements with the hotel, so the cost of the dinner and the lunch will be announced asap.

Jason Victor Serinus was a pleasure to talk to, and he even quoted me right most of the time! I hope Wes can get us into the really big-time and get us a print article after the meet. Or maybe The Absolute Sound will beat him to the punch...

Steve Rochlin also published an advance notice of the meet and we are very appreciative.

We have confirmed press attendees from Stereophile, The Absolute Sound, Enjoy the Music.com, and Tone Audio. Others are possibles, and we really wish that our own recstar24 would figure out a way to get out here and cover the meet for 6Moons. It's not too late Ryan--I heard Steve Hoffman was very disappointed that you haven't made plans to attend since learning about his appearance.

this is great, even more coverage than the last meet! the headphoneophiles are here to stay! but yeah, it'd be awesome to get the two sites i have linked to in my signature at the meet. then we'd have a regular audio bonanza! but yes, it would be especially cool to get actual printed coverage in stereophile, as i've already seen plenty of headphone reviews from them.

SoundStage! and 6Moons just don't have anyone available to cover the meet unfortunately. I'm still hoping for Ryan to stow away in Ray's big amp case but I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

Asr just informed me that he is coming as a member of the press as well. He was assigned to cover the meet for StereoMojo.com! Nice.

There is SO MUCH MORE coverage on headphones in the last 6-12 months that the next meet should expect way more attention and coverage even than the first two. Just looking at 6Moons on what's up and what's coming up: Balanced Headphones (pt. 1 of 3), the Headroom Balanced Desktop, and the RudiStor Balanced NX-33 Headphone amp, not to mention the Empirical Audio Spoiler USB Tube DAC whose maker will be exhibiting at the meet.

Maybe one of the better reviewers around here can be a freelance reporter for one or the other. Someone contact them and suggest this.

Alas, have a race event in my open wheel Formula Continental (F2000) at ex-Formula 1 track Watkins Glenn International so schedule conflict Great news is the same guy who writes music reviews for us and has done photos for MANY years for TAS, Leonard Norwitz, will be there reporting.

ALWAYS glad to help. We did an Industry News spread on the meet a while back to get early publicity going and guess Tyll is a bit busy as he missed my March editorial that mentioned the show and provided details (click here) including the BBQ

FREELANCERS WANTED
Am completely open to one or two special freelance Head-Fi'ers to send me an exclusive show report. This includes being PAID for your work (prefer longstanding Head-Fi'er or moderator). All i ask for, basically, is about 30+ photos and at least 2,000 words. Feel free to PM me on Head-Fi for details. Naturally quality over quantity and look forward to a specially chosen Head-Fi'er adding his/her love of music and writing/photo talents to the well over 100 show reports we already have online (click here).

BTW, i still grin from ear to ear at the sight of all the vintage portable audio goodies here, though miss my lil D-88 that was stupidly sold to my friend in SF because he also collected chackies. And to think it all began about thirty years ago with a pair of Koss <cough> Pro <cough> headphones. Hmm, perhaps my age is showing?

Thanks for the link, Tyll. That was a nice piece about the event, but also about Head-Fi generally. It's quite exciting to see the hobby continue to grow and this event promises to be truly spectacular. Don't worry about being 44 Al, you're not alone!

Thanks for your ongoing support, Steven. I'd be tempted to take you up on that writing offer were I not buried in another (less fun but more financially rewarding) writing project at the moment.

Come ot think of it, you might want to check with Aaron Kovics (immtbiker) who organized last year's National Meet and has also done quite a bit of this type of writing. He's also a moderator here and an all around good guy.

Sorry Steve, I saw the Stereophile piece and thought I'd add the links; googled "Head-Fi National Meet" and just found links. Sorry I missed yours.

For those who aren't familiar with Steve....WHAT!... you must never been to an audio trade show. Steve is everywhere. I swear, I've never been to an audio function without bumping into him at least a couple of times in the hallway. And he's the most digitally prolific person I've ever met---I'm pretty sure he travels with at least one extra bag just to carry his wall warts.

Thanks for all your support, Steve.

Totally no worries cool dude. Sometimes search engines catch things, other times, well... i find Google is leagues better than yahoo, yet sometimes even Google misses a few things.

And airport security ALWAYS hates me when THAT bag goes through carry on.

Thanks for all your support, Steve.
(Humor and truth time) My brother and his wife have three girls, two of which are in a softball league. So one day my brother called me... Enjoy the Music.com also sponsors a girl softball team in Florida, with current standings being 7 wins and 1 loss (ranked #1 in the league).

(Bad joke time) So yes, we support Head-Fi AND athletes... so guess you could say the staff at Enjoy the Music.com are athletic supporters.

Ok, bad, horrible joke. Hey, it 6:57am and in dire need of coffee.

PS EVERYONE: will add the Head-Fi show announced once again in today's Industry News. ALWAYS glad to help.

Steve and others: I'm available to cover the show. I've covered shows before, including in Stereophile. Here is a recent report, done rather off-the-cuff (didn't plan in advance at all!)

I've done some freelance reporting for public radio. I have to get them to pay me to go to the next Headfest. After all, wouldn't radio be the ideal medium for a convention devoted to sound?
