Pick your favorite amp...

This is the "What Would You Vote as Best Amp?" Poll redone with more selections (but prolly still not enough), and a little twist - this time, sound quality is not the sole factor. Just overall favorable opinion that could range from sound quality to portability to value or looks or whatever makes it your favorite.

If you really had to give up all portable amps besides this one, which would it be?!?

Remember, you've gotta spend eternity with this thing...choose wisely.

haha i voted Cmoy because it's possible to go Sijosae UBER mini style and it'll become the smallest portable amp ever!

x2, Not only that, pick your parts right and they can be surprisingly GOOD sounding. For $20 in parts + a mint-tin you can't beat that value for the $$$.

DIY baby!!!

Hornet M

After the sydney meet, I would go as far as saying that the Hornet is definitely a strong contender for best amp:
Sub $1000 category (and I'm well aware it's only $350).

Love your work Ray.

Which makes a great portable amp indeed …

I voted SMIVLE (well, SuperMacro if you will), but the only amps I've heard are: Go-Vibe V5, Hornet, Hornet M, Tomahawk, SuperMacro and a vanilla CMOY.

there is a huge difference in the Xenos amps btwn the A and T. My portable vote is for the C

I voted Tomahawk.
Because of its good sound quality, for a portable amplifier, and its insane battery time.

Another nice portable amp. I miss the Singlepower PPX3 Slam, but without the texture dial, lest it become too heavy.

I voted for the Supermicro and I know it is the best because I have listened to all the amps on the list except the mini box (which I will listen soon to). I am afraid that most of the posters would only have heard 2 or 3 of the amps making their vote quite limited. Just my opinion.

Mrarroyo:

Just registered on head-fi after confirming my order for a Supermicro to go with my Imod and my pair of Ety 4S. Pretty excited about it, although not super psyched on the waiting I now have to endure.

In any case, thanks for the thorough review, which played heavily into my decision to go with a Hornet or a Supermicro (with the smiv winning out).

I can feel that I'm about to fall into a super black hole, because now I want the UE10s. Should make for a fun month with the Visa people...
