Just purchased a MICRO DAC to use with my Macbook Pro. I've read to use the optical out on the MBP with the MICRO DAC, but I'm confused which cable to get. On headphone.com it tells me to buy a optical toslink cable and to use the adapter, but I don't believe that is the only option. Isn't there a cable that does not require an adapter? Where can I purchase this? Is there a difference in quality between quality? Please link me or if you have one for sale at a good price please post. Thanks!

It's very small player, so I like it. I have Clip+ since Christmas and I'm very satisfied!

First of all let me say this is one of my favourite BA driver earphones I have ever heard. That said, being a basshead, these didn't deliver in the bass department - I can't deny the fact...

I've had this card for quite a while now, and I have to say its a really nice card - a huge step-up to my on-board motherboard's audio. At first I do have to admit, it didn't feel like the D1...

This is the first mini-Toslink to mini-Toslink cable I bought for use with my Micro DAC. I can't recall which vendor I bought it from but you can find the Velocity cables at other stores. $19 plus shipping seems reasonable for a 1m cable.
People claim that optical cables that are made of actual glass fiber strands (Dayton Glass cables are popular and I have one as well) are better than those made with plastic strands (like the Velocity cable). I haven't tested the claims myself.

thanks for the link. i could not find any of the glass fiber strands with the mini-toslink option. i wonder if cables really make a difference. i also need a mini to mini to connect my DAC to my amp. any recommendations? does cable quality matter all that much? something economical and efficient would be ideal.

Whoops, wrong link, but call them, they probably have what you want.
I've bought regular toslink connectors from monoprice.com based on recommendations of others on this site and have been pleasantly surprised by their performance. Not just value for the dollar, but performance in absolute terms.
Plus their service has been exceptional. I changed my order and left a message on their phone over the weekend. They called me first thing monday to verify, plus they shipped before I even paid for the additional item. All this on an order of less than $20!
Exceptional company.
And YES, cables can make a HUGE difference.
