Great looking and sounding home setup I'm sure. The Stereo alone is worth the picture not counting the headphones your have.

Thanks. The speaker rig has been my primary focus. However, with the K1000 and 010s it's getting a little less attention. It didn't help that I had to give jp11801 his stands back which puts my speakers on the floor until mine arrive from Skylan in about 2 weeks.

Just switched to the stock cable. I haven't listened to any of the same music that I'd been listening to with the Black Dragon yet. I have to say, they are not bad. One of the guys at Qualia said to me that they are made out of good wire. This is a quote, "The cord for the Q010 is special (four cores of N6 OFC copper wire)."

Congrats on your Qualias ^_^
I wonder how does they sound compared to the K1000. Are they both similar? If not, how are they different?

I don't have a luxury of trying either of those probably in a long time but one can always dream

They probably have more in common then not. Both give you every bit of detail that your souce can pull out of the recording. The 010 have great soundstage/imaging but as good as they are, they can't beat the K1000. The K1000 by their very nature are more open and airy than pretty much any other headphone I've tried. The bass on the 010 is deeper than the K1000 but both are well controlled. That's kind of an off the cuff comparison.

Question re: detail; I have found that exceptional retrieval of detail can either make poor recordings sound better or worse. Where do you feel the Qualia's fall? Do they make a mediocre recording sound all the more mediocre or do you say "Wow, I never heard that part before!"

... I suppose I am asking whether or not they are too transparent.

Yes, I think they can co-exist. Each of them takes me to a slightly different place emotionally, and they both have that "Dang!" factor. If I were to narrow everything down to only 5 sets of cans, I think they would both make the cut. HE90, R10, K1000, Qualia and ??? (the last one would be a tough call). Maybe the L3000 but they have some similarities to the R10 in the same way that the K1000 and Qualia run in the same family of sound. All of these are out of production and none of them go down in value so you won't really "lose" by hanging on to them.
