Issue with Black Dragon Qualia Cable Unbalanced

This is one of the cables that I received in my Qualia/Rudistor auction. I don't know how old it is (Probably around 2ish since that's how old the Qualias were or so stated). When I plugged in for my 3rd listen I was getting no sound from the left channel/side. I wiggled it around to fix that... but during which I got distortion (No surprise). I figure the connection is frayed/breaking? Is this fixable? I'm thinking about sending it to Drew of Moon Audio from which they originated... my only concern is how expensive a fix might be and if he even will be willing to do it considering that the cable is now discontinued.

A Wyvern Audio cable is definitely looking more and more tempting ;p If ayt99 is still producing them.

The Qualia connectors are difficult to deal with. While your assessment may be correct, its important to make sure the connectors are really locked in. Sometimes they feel like theyre locked in and they really arent. If you have any DIY skills (or have a friend who does), and the problem is really a weak joint it wouldn't be hard to fix. Otherwise just send it back to Drew.

I talked with Drew and he said it was probably a short. I'm going to send it in. I believe the problem is definitely localized at the joint area which just feels "looser"/"flappier" than the rest of the cable. I think it makes sense since the cable is rather stiff feeling and heavy so with the weight concentrated on that joint... anyway yeah. Will probably get it fixed and am trying to looking to mr ayt999's wyvern series as well.

For the general public, any cable that we discontinue will still have support for. Either via warranty or small flat fee repair charges. The repair charge will also carry a warranty.
