Fitzpatrick Audio's Black Clover cable appreciation thread

I'm not sure if Fitzpatrick Audio is even still in operation now that Fitz seems to be concentrating solely on squirreling away AKG oldies, but I wanted to see if there were any others out there who like his cables as much as I do.

I don't generally sit around comparing cables; only on occasion do I move them around to try to optimize synergy between components. Just recently I *briefly* put his Black Clover interconnects up against a Blue Jeans LC-1 and a SignalCable Silver Reference. Well, the Black Clover trashed the LC-1 (which, at intro pricing, the BC were cheaper than). And I think the BC are about toe-to-toe with the all silver Silver Reference (at four times the intro price). For the particular component chain (D02 --> M^3 --> W2002) I am using right now, the Black Clover are clearly the best (balanced, very clear and smooth with a touch and a half of warmth over the Silver Reference).

I'm curious what kind of non-Litz braid he uses. I guess it might be called a Fitz braid.

Please note that Black Clover is my name for his cables; I have no idea if he has a name for them. I expected them to be black-dark green as they appear in his pictures (and also to go with Fitzpatrick), but they are just regular black. They are also simple and sexy, like a librarian who's grown out of her goth phase.

Fitz definitely knows how to make cables I had one of his RCA interconnects and they were really good. That said, I did prefer the sound of the LC-1. I can't really remember exactly why, but the LC-1 sounded slightly more detailed and I liked the bassier sound.

"Black Clover" - I like it, can I use that name?

Hmm. The LC-1 seemed to exaggerate the W2002's already pronounced upper midrange A LOT. I guess it might bring out details in this area for another pair of headphones, and I agree with bassier. But to me the Black Clover are more refined in every way.

Sure.

Hey Fitz, are you still making cables? Your prices were extremely reasonable and the quality was undeniably good. I reckon it'd be a waste if you stopped!

I think it's fair to say that the Black Clover synergised better with the W2002 than it did with my SR-404. The SR-404's mids are naturally not that rich so the LC-1's sound signature was quite beneficial.

I still make them regularly. Lately I've been tied up with a few big projects, and some cable orders here and there, so between that and some personal things I haven't had much time to advertise or get the website fully setup.

I'm keeping him kind of busy. Twins get their projects bumped to the head of the line.

As well as my amp project Fitz is making me several BCB cables.
BCB = Black Clover Balanced. He also braided my existing Headphile cable on my K340, and they look great. I've not yet heard his cables, but I've had supreme confidence in this gentleman's abilities for quite some time. It's nice to hear the raves from previous customers though. How he developed such a talent for electronic equipment at the age of 22 is a little mindboggling to me.

And the free CD with every purchase of Ethel Merman covering the music of 2Live Crew, well that's just good customer service.

Huh, I didn't know Fitz created exceptional cables as well. Could you give some more information about make up and pricing? I'd be interested in some rca to rca and xlr to xlr interconnects.

I'd PM him for that.

This deduction would be incorrect.

Holy crap! The Fitzpatrick Audio Black Clover competes with the Silver Res Analog w/ the optional Eichmann silver bullets? When will Fitzpatrick Audio be making more of these so I can buy one?

One needs only to PM the man.
