oh. forgot your brick and mortar stipulation. You'll probably be pretty SOL. In that case, I revert back to my recommendation of the RP-HTX7 which is carried by Fry's Electronics (I'm assuming you're an American?). Also, you can get the V6 there. Of course keep in mind they are both more expensive than on the internet. Why, praytell, can't you order online? You're really limiting your options that way.

Of course, keep in mind I live in a small town where there is very little. You might have better chances at acquiring Sennheisers or other quality brands if you live in a large city. But I don't know.

you just didn't look hard enough.

There are other colors, too. If you're going in person you can see them yourself. I don't personally own this can, but the attention it has received around here is generally favorable. Be mindful, though, that the Fry's in store price is nearly twice what you can find it on amazon for.

edit: wait, which headphone are you asking about? Are you still on the sonys or did you want to know about the RP-HTX7?

I still don't know very much about them, but a set that I'm currently considering for myself is the RP-15MC from Equation Audio. Not a lot of press on Equation Audio cans, but what I can find is glowing. Especially for the RP-21. Here's hoping for an underdog giantkiller... Its MSRP is usually about 100 bucks, but it's easy to find it online for less. Lots of brick and mortar retailers, and a storefinder on the company's website.

that's the boat I'm in. KSC75 sounds great on its own, but it's just too open to always listen to on the go.

I've seen The HD201 in our local Guitar Center. You might want to check there or other music stores. I'm not a musician, but I get the impression that some musicians use closed cans for monitoring.
