Does tell my parents and they will nag me about it but won't stop me from purchasing anything since they know I manage my money quite properly heh. And once the gear arrives and they see the smile on my face as I am enjoying my music..then it's all good

Well I can't really buy the stuff online without my parents' credit card, so they usually know what i buy.

My old lady is a stay at home mom who hasnt the foggiest about how much the stuff costs.

All she does is sign for the boxes!

When I got the McIntosh, that was a very imposing presence in the living room, so she did ask how much it was...when I told her $5,000, she wasn't happy. But she got over it.

I haven't lived with my parents/brother for about 5 years since I left for college, so they don't know/care what I buy. They do wonder why I always have a new DAP and headphones whenever I visit them though! They understand my obsessions, but don't appreciate them with me. So whenever I pick up a new hobby, I always buy them something related to it, so not only will they see what I'm talking about, but hopefully buy me cool gadgets too!! In the past 5 years I have upgraded my parents lifestyles so they now have:

High def TVs
Logitech Harmony 1000 remote control
Grado SR-60 for dad
Sirius satellite radio
large collection of power tools
other stuff (surround sound, high end espresso machine/coffee grinder, etc...)

So they don't mind if I start another hobby or collection anymore because they'll probably benefit from it too. And they paid for college and dad gave me his car when he bought a new one last year, so it's all good.

My parents know about all my (over $10) purchases, i dont hide my headphones for them, and there's no point in doing it, since dad's also into high-end audio, but more into speakers than headphones. Mum doesnt really understand the pleasure in this hobby, but she has got used to it since dad is also into it.
Also, if the thing I want to buy isnt available nearby in a physical store, I ask dad about paying with his credit card, and I give him cash when i get the parcel!

I tell my parents about everything I buy. If they start getting angry I just tell them that It is either this or prostitutes and at least I have something to show for my money other than syphilis.
