As you can see from the specs, there are some differences which seem rather odd if they share the same driver AND enclosure as you say:

Frequency response:
AD1000 5 - 40,000Hz
AD2000 5 - 45,000Hz

Output overpressure value:
AD1000 100dB/mW
AD2000 102dB/mW

Net weight (without cord):
AD1000 270g
AD2000 250g

The headband looks different, so maybe weight is because of that. The other specs should not be because of the headband though.

Could the frequency response and output overpressure value difference be because of different cables?

Yes i saw them before....
Possibly, at least that there they have modified it slightly (the drivers), which i don't think (not %100 secure but near), because the drivers from images are the same, but only that....
Anyway, i think that the difference in frecuency and pressure levels are affected, because of the different cable (...with better 'electrical' properties).
Ah, the headband in the AD1000 is slighlty heavier, because of the cable that is going to the another earcup, and the extra material to cover it.

Probably a stupid question, but... Are you still loaning these out, or was it to just the seven original participants? I'm very interested...
