Audio Technica ATH M50 - Page 4

i'm also listening to a lot of electronica and also punk- rock. to my ears the m50 just sound great with both. as to punk they unfortunately reveal bad recordings which you'll find often with punkrock...

Mine are on the way. If they live up to the immense number of 5-star reviews they have gotten (and almost none less than 5-star), then they will be the last cans I ever buy. The M40s are very close to achieving that status already.

BTW these phones are very easy to EQ too...since they are quite flat but have a lot of room in the low and high end, you can 'recreate' anything you want. For example: I made a 'Hip-Hop EQ' with a lot of bass: no problem at all

I was either going to get the M50's or the hfi-780's. I ordered the M50's today, and they'll be here by next week for me. I'm going to do the DT250 earpad swap, and then I'm goingto enjoy a burn in period of LISTENING to them change. I did it w/my MDR-V6's, and I can't wait to do it w/these as well.

Just got mine today. They are quite small melon friendly. I was a little worried.

The bass and highs are very good on the ATH-M50, the mids however sound recessed and not good at all compared to my Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. However if I take off the pads off and just put the headphones on without them, with the driver right next to my ears, the mids would then sound amazing, the difference is astonishing. But obviously you need the pads to get the bass...

I wish I could get the mids from my HD 280 Pro and the bass plus highs from my ATH-M50, that would be the perfect combination I think.
