Hello everyone,
This is all a bit new for me and I am sure the answer to my question can be found already posted but I have done a few searches myself with no luck.

I need a free program that will convert MP3 to CD.

Thank you in advance

It's not the length of the disc but the type of chemicals used. Some older CD players don't play CDRs and especially CDRWs because their lasers aren't designed to read off the dyes and chemicals used in CDRs, as opposed to the more standard ones used in pressed CDs.

Just to check are you sure your burning them as Audio CD and not Data?

I just use nero.(my normal burner software [not-free]) I select Audio CD (not the data cd) and drag and drop the track in then burn. I think any burning software if in Audio CD mode would work

Just thought you might enjoy the mystery along with me. Here is where I am at now:
I have 100 CDR's by AZUL 80 min/ 700MB which don't seem to work in my Sony D-34(circa 1992). The D-34 plays the Maxell 80/700 CDR's just fine.

The Azul's play just fine in a Sony D-828k (circa1994).

So it seems I purchased a brand of CDR that does not play in the D-34?

I can't find the specs on the D-828k to compare with the D-34 perhaps that would give a clue, but then again the Maxell's play fine????

I don't know exactly where the problem exists but I've heard that the 80-minute disc have a tighter spiral that some cd players can't read. However since the Maxell's play in the D-34, maybe the manufacturers follow different standards when creating the discs. You might also want to check and make sure the Azuls aren't a different format like cd-rw.

CD-R discs are described by their recording capacity or runtime length. You can buy both 74-minute and 80-minute CD-R discs. Today most CD-Rs are sold in 80-minute lengths, but you will see some brands that offer both 74 and 80 minute sizes. The actual cost of making the discs is about the same. However, some of the very old CD burners do not recognize the 80-minute CD-Rs, so the short 74-minute discs are still offered by some makers. Both of the discs are the same physical dimensions or measurements - 120mm (12cm) in outside diameter, with a 21mm center hole.

So here is the question:

How is it possible that the D-34 can read Maxell 80min/700MB CDR's but it cannot read Azul CDR's of the same specs 80min/700mb 52X. Now it does not say 52X on the Maxell CDR, maybe this is something?
Could jmmtn4aj's thoughts be applyed, is it a chemical on the Azul disc?
Remember the Azul discs play fine in another player???
I enjoy a mystery.

It's entirely possible, depending on specific player and specific media. I've actually had the same issue in the past. I have a CD/DVD changer in my home theater system, which is several years old. It is extremely disc sensitive. I cannot get any of my CDR/DVR current media to play at all. However, I found a couple of old CD's I'd burned, on some generic CDR's I bought at a computer show, that played perfectly. Unfortunately, I have no idea what brand the media was, and I've not found anything else so far that works.

I've also found the same problems with CD/DVD burners in my PC's. My old HP CD burner loved Sony media. When I got a BenQ DVD burner in my new PC, it hated Sony media, but it loves HP media. And the HP media works fine in both burners.

In your case, the specific type of media could be to blame. What do the discs look like on the recording surface? The dark types tend to have more compatability issues. If they do look visually different, that's probably the problem.
