ok so I'm building my first cmoy and I only have one LED, and I kinda trimmed the leads and forgot which was the negative side. I have a meter with a diode tester but I just wanna make sure, is the negative lead the one that gives a reading when the negative test lead is on it?

If you look inside you may be able to see that there are two seperated parts, the larger part is the negative lead. Also often the lip around the bottom there may be a flat part on the negative side.

The LED will light up slightly when it's forward biased, i.e, the + lead is on the anode and - lead on the cathode.

I just air test, and if it doesnt light up, switch leads around... I havent killed one led by wiring it wrong, so trial and error is my method.

alright i got it, thanks guys. but now I'm having another problem. I'm using a TLE2426 rail splitter and I don't really understand the schematic or how to physically position it with the power cap on the board. It seems to me like the cap wouldn't be doing anything as its shown on tangent's site here(<- scroll down about 4 pages) but obviously I'm misunderstanding something. I got mixed up at first by following the instructions for a resistor divider, and put the cap between the + voltage and the ground, rather than across the battery. sooo ANYHOOTERS, should it be like this? (gimmie a break on the drawing here ppl, hell I just learned to read yesterday)
if not could somebody else draw me a pic of how it should be using tangent's layout as your template pleeeaasee??

oh ya, almost forgot, I'm using an SO-8 packaged rail splitter with tangent's adapter board

mmm at least my KSC75s came today
